The Winter X Games returned to Aspen over the weekend, and despite dicey weather conditions that threatened to halt the event entirely, the contest was another massive success — with plenty of history-making moments across big air, slopestyle and superpipe snowboarding. 

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS & RESULTS

Max Parrot — Big Air Gold Medal Run

Max Parrot dominated the big air final, claiming his third X Games gold medal with runs that included the first-ever contest cab triple cork 1800 to help secure the win.

“It’s the best jump of the year, that’s for sure,” said Parrot of the massive kicker.
“It gives us riders the confidence to try new tricks that would otherwise be too dangerous".

Matt Ladley — Superpipe Gold Medal Run

Heavy, wet snow meant that the SuperPipe final was changed to a single-run event — and surprise winner Matt Ladley took full advantage to claim his first ever X Games medal. Stylish youngster Ben Ferguson grabbed second place, while Australia's Scotty James bagged the bronze medal. 

“It’s bullshit,” said Iouri Podladitchkov following the event. Having qualified second, Iouri bombed his one run and finished in last place.

Mark McMorris — Slopestyle Gold Medal Run

Fresh off a gold medal at the inaugural LAAX Open just last week, Mark McMorris continued his red-hot form to take top prize in the men's slopestyle event. In doing so, he became the first person to land back-to-back triple corks in an X Games event.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS & RESULTS

The ladies stepped up their game once again at Aspen this year, and it made for some highly entertaining battles. 

Spencer O'Brien — Slopestyle Gold Medal Run

Spencer O'Brien wrapped up her first X Games slopestyle gold with a flawless final run, capped with a perfect front 7 off the toes that she'd battled with the entire contest. Jamie Anderson finshed second in a tight battle, while compatriot Hayley Langland took home the bronze medal.

Chloe Kim — SuperPipe Gold Medal Run

15-year-old American wonderkid Chloe Kim once again proved why she's already a global superstar, claiming her second consecutive SuperPipe gold medal at X Games Aspen. This shredder was born in the year 2000...let that one sink in!
