Endless Perfection: Kelly's Wave

When Kelly Slater's artificial wave pool was unveiled in late 2015, it sent the surfing world into a frenzy. Kelly's project quite literally blew previous artificial wave technology out of the water, utilising cutting edge science, engineering and design to create the longest rideable open-barrel man-made wave in the world.

We've seen glimpses of the wave since then, and the latest peek comes courtesy of GoPro, showcasing Kelly as he cruises through an endlessly perfect barrel at the facility in Leemore, California. With surfing now included in the Olympic Games, artificial wave technology looks set to become a focal point of competitive surfing, and Kelly's project certainly looks head and shoulders above the rest. Is this the future of surfing?
