Hawaii's Carissa Moore stormed to her third surfing world title in Maui yesterday, taking first place in the final event of the women's WSL series. 

Moore's only remaining title competitor, Courtney Conlogue, was knocked out in round 4, which immediately ended her dream season and any chance of claiming an upset world crown. Moore celebrated in the best way possible, moving on to defeat Australia's Sally Fitzgibbons in the final to claim her fourth win of the season. 

Moore backed up her 2011 and 2013 world titles with a third victory this season

"It's been a crazy title race," Moore said of the see-sawing battle she has had with Conlogue throughout the year.

"There's so many ups and downs and trying to keep a level head the whole time, just to keep that confidence up when you lose. I've enjoyed the whole ride."

Australia's Sally Fitzgibbons finished the season in 3rd position, while fellow Aussies Tyler Wright and Nikki Van Dijk finished 5th and 9th respectively. 6-time champion Steph Gilmore managed to finish 12th overall, despite missing a full 6 of the 10 events this season through injury.
