In the final few days before his passing in March 2019, Jake Phelps, alongside Cameron Padgett and Tom Shattuck, finished Angel Dust, a book he had been working on for the past year. The book ties together all of his original Angel Dust columns that were featured in Thrasher from 1994 to 2011 with new original writing alongside interviews with Wade Speyer and Brian Ferdinand, and contributions from Neckface, Gonz, Karma Tsocheff, Wheatberry, Danny Sargent, and Peter Hewitt.
Angel Dust serves as a reminder of the incredible writing talent that Jake Phelps had, and the very sad loss that his passing has been for skateboarding. Jake's legacy will be with skateboarding forever, and this posthumously released passion project of his serves as another fitting way to make sure his memory never fades.
