Okay, So I am sitting in Poland, prepping for the snow and its actually about time a get a snowboard.
I would normally get almost a 1 or 2 month of boarding or skiing in a year.
I probably want an all mountain boar. I am about 156 cm but I think I have shrunk 153? LOL, I am being serious. With camber and rockers I probs would do a combo. I was looking at getting the GNU Velvet 2013 but I don’t think I am keen on the price considering they go down considerably after the year anyways and there probably other things on the market that u guys can recommend.
Thanks in advance. Thanks for reading. Please guide me to my next board.
My daughter has the GNU Velvet and loves it!!!!!
Another great hybrid board is the YES Basic (if you can get hold of a 2012 with the sintered base)!!!!! My wife has this, and absolutely loves it!!!!!
Hi Boardergirl
What kinds of riding do you do?
And what kind of riding do u do the most?
Questions that are going to help narrow out some options:
Do you do any freestyle/ride switch at all? What stiffness do you like? How much do you weigh? How long have you been riding and what is your ability?
Camrock is a bit harder to find in such specific girls boards but check:
Bataleon Violenza (Not camrock, still an option?)
Rossignol Diva (stiffer)
Rossignol Justice (bit softer than the Diva)
i mostly freeride but I want to start doing a bit more freestyle. I ride switch all the time riding switch is fairly natural for me, I don’t actually know if i’m regular or goof they come pretty natural which gets annoying when doing park stuff. I think i prefer just cruising down hill but being able to do a few park stuff here and there is good. I’m doing more a lot more park this season.
med-Stiff probably and I weigh about 55 kgs the last time I checked. I have been riding for 2 years now. Skill level intermediate? I could do all the red runs in Japan black runs not to keen with all the bumps and what not.
Thanks for the recommendations Mizu and SamNZ I am having a look at them now
If you ride switch a lot a true twin is going to be the first thing you’re after with centred stance. I know the Mervin and DC line ups pretty well, there’s a couple of Roxy boards that might suit as well.
In DC you have the Biddy and the womens PLY, the Biddy is a flatbase true twin whereas the Ply is just slightly different diff nose and tail shape but still classed as a twin but comes with DC lock and load camber, both are awesome value boards if coin is an issue.
In the Gnu line up you have the
BNice - full rockered true twin
BPro - On the exxy side, has C2 camber, basically the opposite of lock and load and YES’s hyrbrid camber profile, C2 has rocker between the feet and camber under the bindings, it’s on the Mens TRice that I have and I like it
Ladies Choice - female version of the Riders Choice a board thats picked up a few awards, C2, little less exxy than the BPro
Ladies Pickle - Female version of the Park Pickle, full rocker but has assym sidecut so you can carve harder on your heel side.
Velvet- Mizu mentioned this, it has the same profile as the mens attack banana the EC2, little more playful than C@
In Roxy you have a heap of boards, of interest to you
Ally- full rocker and true twin
Banana Smoothie - EC2 rocker like the Gnu Velvet
Emminence - C2 Camber true twin
Ollie Pop- C2 true twin
A lot of the Roxy and Gnu’s are basically the same board so it essentially comes down to the choice of graphics/colours. BTW what you doing in Poland, you down south near Zakopane?
pretty sure she is au pairing? can’t remember where in poland though!
Bataleon Distortia will prob be my next board, that or the Evil Twin I think…another one to look at and see if it might suit.
Cord is right au pairing in Klodzko. So i’m lucky to be able to go the Czech Republic the resort near the family is 30 mins away a Polish one and it is pretty expensive. I think i’m heading there next weekend. How is sweden going cords! I was looking at the Ollie Pop its suppose to be a bit like the B-pro without the price tag. Should i be getting a board that under 145cm? Checked out the Velvet a bit more, not so good on groom runs so maybe not.
i ride the 2012 olliepop in 145, (im 165cms and about 62kgs give or take…) ive been riding 2 years (only really count 1 tho at last year i hardly got down any runs.. on my massive 155 plank of wood that weighed sooo much i couldnt lift it with both legs bound in and sitting down..) and i ride a little switch.. and will ride more when im better at it.. my bf chucked in on for a laugh and hit the 20fts in bluecow park.. his now either buying a chicks board a larger kids board or a 147 mens board cos he loved it.. they are really light weight and twin tip.. i picked boarding up in 1-2 days on this board.. much more than i did in 8 days last season.. and and now starting to his small jumps and tree runs..
(im just biased as its the only board besides the “plank of wood” that i have ridden.. but im loving it..) was looking at the roxy XOXO as a secondary board.. but am also concidering the banana smoothie.. (my friend rode the eminence and loved it too..
ive also heard a few good things about the GNU B series boards.. but havent riden any.. so im not much help there!
but good luck with picking one.. (i spent 4 months picking my ollie pop.. and in the end i came down to the eminence and the ollie pop.. but went the olliepop based on the rainbow graphics compared to the plain eminence.. (as the stats were almost identical… ))
im leaning towards the ollie pop what bindings do you have or would you guys recommend

Do you have a Polish background or is the family good with English? My ex was Polish background and we were considering doing a bit of a tour through Poland seeing her relatives and I was interested to go down south to Zakopane and do a bit of riding while we were there, never happened though unfortunately. From what I understood boarding in Poland was a fairly cheap affair.

I have the roxy rock it-blast 2012 bindings in white.. (they use the fastec step in system and only the ankle strap ratchets..
I personally love them and wouldn’t go back to ratchets.. But that’s just me, each to their own.. =)
