Mizu, I certainly hope the strips work as I was fairly annoyed at the fogging, I got one wave where it wasn’t fogged and that was average at best. I’m pushing for my mate to get a POV of some description as well and then I might stand a chance of getting something decent of myself, he wants to hang out till the Go Pro Black comes out and then he’s going to work it out from there. I did lick the lens a bit to try to keep the lens clear and it works for a couple of minutes, how does the RainX compare?
Spaz, cheers mate, that was literally about 20mins of editing time on power director and then a total mindrape when it came to uploading. Will use that Mpegstreamclip next time to help me out in terms of upload time and size.
The Rain-X claims to fill the pores of the surface of the plastic/glass, and creates a surface that water beads off!!!!! Kinda like a car wax!!!!!
I’ve got a zip lock bag with a cloth that’s been soaked with the Rain-X, and I keep it in the camera bag, along with mounts spare card etc etc!!!!!
If ya mate gets a cam, ya can go halvies in the anti fog strips, as ya get 3 lots, and they can be dried out in the oven and used again and again!!!!!
You’ll read tips on how to reduce fogging, but I’ve tried them all and the strips work better than any of them!!!!!
Not having a housing would solve the problem.
I think it’s one area the camera designers have let us down with the current generation models.
Very few brands that produce quality footage (as good as GoPro) can be used underwater without a housing covering the lens.
Rain-X is good stuff and helps keep snow off as well.
Mizu, have you ever used a water dispersing agent like WD-40?
Personally the strips are best as they absorb moisture making sure it doesn’t get into the electrics of the camera - if theres fog theres moisture and if your camera isn’t well sealed the moisture is getting in.
Nah, never tried WD!!!!!
I had some Rain-X in the shed when I got my GoPro, and after I had tested it in the water, I thought that I’d give it a go!!!!! Worked really well so just stuck with it since!!!!!
Same with the anti fog strips!!!!!
