It’s harder static for sure. Riding on an edge helps to initiate the rotation.

You can practice pre-wind and unwind during the static 180 to help you get the rotation around.

I’ve been able to improve my spin a little (I think) but I’m pretty sure now that my limitation is on the height of my jumps.

How do I jump higher? Should I ollie/nollie?

When I ollie on a snowboard, I do it as if I was on a skateboard. Flex right back on the tail, then pop up from your back foot, leveling up with the front foot. Seems to work for me, see my avatar wink

unfortunately I don’t have a skating background. I’ll be likely if I could get half of the height you got. I’m gonna put in some time in the gym doing lateral leg raises for the core then.

Ollies will always get you higher than popping (jumping from both feet evenly) however it makes it harder to spin when you are learning.

I recommend popping for learning spins (and always teach it that way), because it’s a less complicated movement (you have enough to worry about with learning the spin itself) and you will be more stable in the air. Once you have been doing a certain spin for ages, you will be able to add an ollie rather than pop because the spin part will be automatic by then (and really, I only ollie into spins sometimes just to be different).

So stick to popping, and you can get your pops higher by bending lower to begin with. Then more you compress you springs (legs) the more they will be able to spring you into the air.

^^ I agree with Andy’s advice. I don’t think I ever ollie when spinning to be honest.  It’s much easier popping off the edge.

Finally hit my first medium jump today at bcomb park. It’s a bit mellower and smaller medium jump that they have there. Knuckled it (bounced on the knuckle then land) 3 times and finally landed it the 4th time. Also managed to do a clean melon grab twice on the small jumps.

Thanks guys. Here’s the butter carve video. I realize my nico butter has no style at all haha. The eurocarve wasn’t the best since it’s very slushy, the last video I posted was a bit better.
