Yeah you would probably have a better chance if you strapped a jockey to your back and ran the race yourself!
It is American though, don’t they race dirty? Maybe they’ll jack the thing up with caffeine and guarana ha ha!
Pointlessly Facebook made me check this thread. And now I find I’m to late.
I blame Boxhead.

Macquarie quant analysts tip Dunaden for Melbourne Cup

DUNADEN will again take out the race that stops the nation, according to the quant team at investment bank Macquarie.
Since 2007, the bank’s quantitative strategists have turned their attention to the Melbourne Cup for a bit of fun to see what their model spits out.
If recent history repeats itself, it’s not the worst punt: Dunaden’s win last year made it three in a row for Macquarie’s team when the French raider edged out Red Cadeaux. The model also tipped prior winners Shocking in 2009 and Americain in 2010.
This year, Macquarie’s model backed Dunaden, followed by Kelinni, Maluckyday, Lights of Heaven, Americain, and Galileo’s Choice.
At the wrong end of the model are Unusual Suspect, Tac de Boistron, Winchester, Zabeelionaire, Precedence and Niwot.
“This year the model has thrown out some interesting names. Our favoured strategy still involves a bet on the top pick in the model and also betting on the top quartile of horses for the trifecta. This mirrors the way we (quants) approach equity investing,” Macquarie’s team said.
“The best way to implement the trifecta bet is via a ‘box trifecta’ on the top six horses in the model.”
Meanwhile, Goldman Sachs institutional trader Richard Coppleson backed Americain to win the Cup in his note to clients this morning.
10 minutes to go. I’m pumped. Got a nice little trifecta going on. The key horses for me today are Galileo’s Choice and Mourayan.
Good luck everyone!
