Explains why ya always go nuts over any Burton product!!!!!
When I was looking into my outerwear . . . the brand arc’teryx came up a lot as super high quality/tech but pricey gear. . .
More than any other piece of snow gear, your outerwear jacket/pants makes a ‘fashion’ statement about who you are. To me, arc’teryx outerwear says “I’m a pretentious skier”.
Well, call me a “pretentious skier” then if you see me in my arc jacket in the backcountry!
Geez mate, I’m disappointed. You’re the only boarder I’ve ever heard of wearing it! I know it’s really good stuff tech-wise, but surely there’s a more snowboarder appropriate option somewhere along the fashion<>function scale?
Burton AK? I’m really keen on trying some Homeschool Outerwear.
Goddamn thank you skip! I’ve been trying to remember that brands name for so long now! I was told to check them out a long time ago but forgot the name.

AK would be my pick if I could justify spending all that money. I have some, but not much.
Homeschool’s breathability is awesome! I wish it looked nicer.
I think Homeschool has a nice clean design

I got it for backcountry riding so quality was more important than a ‘skier brand vs snowboard brand’ argument. In fact, arc is less skier brand than mountaineering brand. The asym zipper and colours are pretty cool and the material on the back is a bit stretchy. No regrets getting that at all.
But, to be fair to your pov, I think it depends on where you live. Around here, Arc is sooooo expensive that nobody has it. The only people you’ll see with it on are in the backcountry where you’re all more kindred spirits anyways. If I lived in Vancouver though, I would probably hate it, as I hear everybody there wears Arc because they have a factory outlet there. My friend who goes to Whistler quite often complains that he can’t wear his arc stuff there because every gaper has it too. lol
When I lived in Whistler, I a)couldn’t afford burton AK and b) didn’t want it since everybody had it. Here in Japan, there’s lots of B, but the Japanese like heinous graphics, so I don’t have much problem with overlap. They are also obsessed with new outerwear every year, so when I buy last year’s stuff on sale, nobody is wearing it anymore on the slopes ha ha. However, I bet they’re thinking “ewww, that guy has last year’s stuff on!”

Yeah, that’s the way I feel about Burton.
I reckon Homeschool would be great for hot sweaty backcountry hiking - because their breathability is so disproportionately good (like 10K moisture rated outerwear with 25K breathability!).
Loving the look of homeschool - it looks like solid technical gear with snowboarders in mind. It has style. It is very expensive though, and lacks choice in colours and features on different levels of gear - understandable for a small company of course.
Hahaha heres some Irony for you..
I went out and bought analog and special blend gear as an alternative to burton,
I also got a forum snowboard.
analog, special blend, forum.. all owned by Burton LOL.
I’m head to toe in AK kit. One of the best snowboarding purchases I’ve made. Isn’t too much diff in price if you search the net far enough.
Same here, the AK stuff is brilliant. I’ve had a few days where I’ve practically been swimming in snow and I was 100% dry the entire time.
Keen to pick up an Arc jacket with some insulation as my AK Cyclic is a shell only, but I’m holding out for some Christmas sales. Not keen on dropping another $400-500 on a jacket again…
