Haha I’m a tough cookie!! And I usually see the funny side to things.. (just picturing it in my head actually makes me grin..) haha after the initial impact and getting my breath back its all good..  not like sitting there getting upset and having a tantrum was going to do anything anyways.. better to get back and have a drink or 2 haha

For those of you who missed it (it was in a bindings thread iirc,) here it is again.. lol

This is why I moan about GP battery life - you just can’t film all day. It’s designed for filming well planned and set-up runs/tricks, not for the average users day on the hill. Even out on a professional job I won’t be relying on it the way I do every other brand I own.

It’s necessary to carry a spare battery no matter what Cam you use (even VIO1.5 with it’s 10hr life), with GPH3black you’ll need more than 2 spare.

There’s no way I’m your average rider, I always have batteries charging and a bag of charged ones stashed on the hill. My accom or charging point is within meters of unstrapping so it’s possible for me to ride all day and potentially capture every moment yet I still miss opportunities.

GoProH3b will cost in excess of $100 to stock batteries for one camera and mean carrying the extra weight, returning to my stash and checking battery levels are adequate. I usually have at least 2 cams running so it’s two times the trouble/cost.

As a usable Cam GPH3b doesn’t meet user expectations.
Not much good having epic picture potential if the battery is flat or cost $600 and lots of fiddling to get the days ridding,

Like CRACKERS says <quote>I say film all the time if you can….so you don’t miss something good, but delete the boring footage afterwards!</quote>

Ouch h0z! I hadn’t seen that.

Kinda reminds me of the guy that went over the handlebars of his mtb straight into a big rock, they had hired cams off me so had 3 angles, his footage was awful - it full-on sounded like he was dying - “death rattle” breathing and his mates reactions only added to it. He was alright btw.

The footage is on a dead HardDrive that’s stored away for when I can afford forensic recovery.

Looking to pick up a black. Is there anywhere cheaper than ‘the bay’ at about $450? Not concerned with warranty or after sales service. Thanks.

I’ve seen it a few times around the $370ish mark
$399
edit: removed link
$439 or $429 with coupon shipped. Was $389.99 shipped yesterday

Hey AJ2theC, I sell them!

I will have to check current stock and supply.
Hit me up with a PM and I’ll see what discount can be arranged.

I take it your aware of the downfalls GP3B have dispite it having amazing quality footage.
GB3Silver is a better option IF you insist on GoPro.

Things to consider with Black;
Battery life is the worst of any camera - EVER!
You can’t afford a screen to view 2k (let alone 4k) - if you could you wouldn’t buy GoPro.
To make use of the advanced settings you will spend more time correcting the footage than shooting.
You will need accessories (like second battery, microSD).

Budget $650 for GP3B and accessories (that’s discounted). Or you’ll most often end up with 50mins of useless footage from each charge and days editing the 5min of good stuff.

What you should consider most is; what are you going to use it for?

Kogan is a Hong Kong dealer and posting a link to them is breaking BW policy.

We have the silver too, after our original HD hero died.

haven’t found the need for any of the accessories except for mounts. We bought the original HD hero with the motorsports kit because of the amazing array of mounts it came with. I think if you go to sportscamera.com.au you can buy a grab bag of heaps of different mounts. Worth it to be able to stick it anywhere.

Actually a bag of anti-fog strips is worth getting too. The other stuff is all a waste of time if you ask me. The amazing thing about gopro is supposed to be its simplicity!

Thanks for the replies, and thanks for the heads up Spaz. I’ve just been reading up on how fantastic they are, but didn’t stop to think that all those capabilities are beyond my needs. Might have done yourself out of a sale Spaz, sorry smile

Silver is adequate for most people’s needs I reckon.

Yep, I sell Silver.
I push Drift Ghost (which I believe is a much better camera in this market in every respect).
Also sell ION and ReplayXD (also better than GP3Silver in my expert opinion).

I don’t mind doing myself out of a sale on GoPro, would rather see BWM get the product that is best for their needs or wants.
I see my roll here to advise, even if I do have access to dealer pricing and can offer good deals.

Those who do PM me end up with the best price or the right camera whether they buy from me or not.
There’s only so much info I can post publicly without upsetting sponsors and suppliers.

GoPro is the most complex ActionCam with the most difficult menu I’ve ever used (in any camera).
It’s mostly hype and all marketing.

Nothing complex about pressing a mode button a few times to get the correct mode and then pressing a record on/record off button. That is all I ever do!
