Epic write up and awesome pics bb
What Are The photos taken with?
The photos range from my Iphone, Drift HD & my Nikon d3100.
Most of the backflip photos were using the Nikon. The backcountry hiking photos are half half Drift / Iphone. (It’s pretty obvious which ones!!)
Nice video, Luke!
Can you tell us more about the summer camp?
We run a glacier summer camp up on the Horstman Glacier that’s for both adults and kids. We coach all ability levels and have our park set up for easy progression.
We have a bunch of different packages from day coaching which includes early access up to our private terrain park, coaching and lunch. To 8 day camps that include airport transfers, all meals (at restaurants), coaching, hotel accomm (pool and 2 hot tubs), activities and all the antics that go with living with a bunch of people that all love snowboarding.
The Camp dates are June 21 - July 12
This year we are encouraging adults to come in the first 2 weeks so we can organize more adult style activities like brewery tours etc.
and that way it’s more fun for them as well.
Our coaches have years of experience including coaching the B.C team and we also have former Olympic athlete Crispin Lipscomb coaching pipe for us this year.
That’s the brief rundown but if anyone has any questions then feel free to ask.
Luke
Had a pretty good day today. Went up with 2 of my friends. Did 2 laps on whistler just to demo boards then switched to bcomb because whistler is getting too crowded. Lapped the terrain garden on bcomb a few times then just followed my friend in the nintendo park. I really wanted to try the first 2 medium jumps but couldn’t gather up the courage to hit it even though I’m pretty sure I can land it just fine. The funnest top to bottom run at the end of the day I’ve ever done on Whistler. Hit run to creekside, so many side hits and rollers to do after you past Red Chair.
Regarding the demo. I took out 155 Salomon Villain and my buddy tried a fish, we swapped boards after 1 run. The villain is a soft, I would say park board, but I think it might be marketed as an all mountain freestyle board. The edges were dull on that thing, couldn’t even carve. When my friend tried it he slipped out like 3 times. The board was pretty fun overall, it has Salomon’s rock out camber which is camber past the bindings but when you weight the board the tip and tail rockered up. I think I’m pretty sure I cannot ride a soft board if they have rocker tip and tail, ollieing felt weird, like I was going to slip out on the tail.
The other board is 160 Burton Fish. Now this board is AWESOME! I freakin love this board. Carves and holds and edge super good. Didn’t feel like a tapered board for some reason. It’s very poppy too. I didn’t put much effort on popping off rollers and side hits but this thing can boost just by the little effort that I did. I would ride this as my everyday board, which some of you may find weird. Was gonna try some small jumps with the Fish but the stance angle is just not comfortable for me. I just don’t get when people say “Oh the fish is gonna be terrible on hard pack, bla bla bla (even the demo guy said this)”, this board is awesome. Easily takes the cake for my favorite board along with my PYL.
edit: cancel that!
Had without a doubt one of the best spring riding days I’ve ever had today, went out with Brad, Neil, Bart and his brother Lewy who was up visiting from Van. Basically just lapped Garbanzo all day long throwing ourselves off every side hit and wall ride we could find. Hoping to do the same again tomorrow and hopefully get some footage to put into a short little edit
Awesome man!
Get that camera out!
Personally I would be more
“get that camera out ”
Went bungee jumping today!
Got a cheap deal through club shred, only 65 bucks!! First bungee jump i’ve ever done. The jump was off a bridge into a river at about 160 foot high. So it’s not the biggest of bungees but it was loads of fun none the less. Hopefully i get a chance to do the vancouver bungee before i head back to aus!
The season is pretty much ending, all the snow is melting and it’s pretty much park sessions every day!
It’s snowing again (5-10cm) and the freezing level has dropped to 1200m. Oooooh yea, still some good days left in spring it seems!
I have never seen a bungee cord being attached at the waist?!
Yeah me neither but it seemed to work okay!
I have never seen a bungee cord being attached at the waist?!
I’ve Seen it attached to the waist in Queenstown
where was that at? all the ones i saw/my missus took part in where ankle fixed.
I have never seen a bungee cord being attached at the waist?!
I’ve Seen it attached to the waist in Queenstown
That is on the the “swing” not true Bungee if it round the waist!
