Epic blog post, finney! All I can say is I wish I was there with you guys! Great to hear you’ve been progressing really well again this season (was great to watch you progress so much last season). Man, that line down Whistler Bowl… that’s what you call first line - not one person in sight! Awesome photos, awesome write-up, stoked to read all about it.

Keep it coming! shaka

thanks for all the positive feedback on the previous post guys, great to know you’re all enjoying it.

Just got back in from one of the most intense mornings I’ve ever had on the hill. I went up solo as it was a mates birthday last night and most people were a bit too hungover to head out, I opted for bed after dinner instead of the clubs as I wanted to be well rested before this morning. I was very happy to go up solo for a change as I’m able to just charge every line and not having to wait on anyone is a bit of a bonus. Given I was mainly hitting areas I’m very familiar with it was great to just go at full pace the whole morning, sure enough I may not have lasted as long as other days but it was good to see just how much terrain I can hit in one morning.

I got into the village just after 6am for fresh tracks as there was 18cm that fell overnight all the way to the valley. Snow was great up top and bottomless in places as there was a lot of wind which made for some very deep stashes on the west facing runs.

1st lap I charged to Upper Insanity and got the 2nd line through there behind a skier who is one of the locals who skis pretty much every day. After the first section I ducked off to a secret stash that Shane showed me last year and got the 1st line through there which was pretty decent, a little crusty underneath but well worth hitting. Got onto Red and hit roundhouse rolls on the 2nd lap, took a line more to the right and boosted off a windlip/cornice that’s formed at the top, the landing couldn’t have been any better as it was knee deep and completely untracked, rode through the cloud I created upon landing and then after a few turns through untouched I charged down to red taking one of my favourite lines to hit first thing near Jimmy’s Joker. Once again completely caked in snow from the endless faceshots to be had. 3rd lap I hit roundhouse roll again but this time changed direction and dropped down the Emerald side and hit a few tree sets which were completely untouched and made my way down to Garbanzo. Pretty happy with this start as I managed to get in 3 very solid laps in under an hour.

Now that I was in the Garbanzo zone I had a whole lot more terrain to hit which isn’t as accessible when coming from either Red or Emerald. 1st lap I hit a nice tree set which I frequent on powder days and then made my way down to Side Order which was a little difficult due to the race fences which were up but made it there without too much hassle. Once again I was greeted by untouched powder without a single line through it. To say I was ecstatic about this is a bit of an understatement hahaha. Next lap off Garbanzo I was contemplating the Garbo lift line as it hadn’t yet been hit by anyone but by the time I was halfway up the chair the masses of people started coming down so I decided to give it a miss and went through Seppos which I hadn’t actually done this season. Definitely a good gamble as there was far more fresh snow in there compared to what I would have had if I had hit the lift line.

Happy with those 2 laps I made my way down to Emerald, once again through some trees that I’m fairly familiar with and again untouched the whole way down. Once at the top I shot off towards Harmony to a nice hidden stash that Shane had shown me last season. I’d actually say that this was the deepest snow of the day and it was so good I ended up hitting it 3 times in total, each time just as good as the last and very few new lines.

Rest of the morning I mainly rode Garbanzo and Red as they had the shortest lift lines. Got some good lines through some areas which are usually overlooked by many people for some unknown reason but I’m not complaining as it was great for me. After 3 hours of constant riding/charging through threes I was pretty spent but happy to call it a day as the alpine wasn’t going to open due to the high winds and seeing as I had managed to hit just about every one of my favourite mid mountain lines figured it was good to quit whilst I was ahead.

Snow stacked up on the racks in the village and some very nice sticker placement wink

Bit hard to see but theres only one line through that entire run.. mine tongue wink

Entry to Side Order

Did I mention that there was an abundance of faceshots?  shaka

Awesome mate, very stoked reading all of that. Great work with the die-cut as well! shaka (did you do that in the morning?)

K2 has been slowing you down, hasn’t he? He’s a bit of a drag like that. smirk
