Pretty good day shredding today for my one day off work a week i have at the moment.
Hit up morning session from 7.45 on whistler mountain being one of the first people to cruise down. Meet up with k2 & found some left over fresh stuff in a few sneaky tree runs. Ended up heading up peak chair, saw finney hard at work before doing peak to creek. Turned out it was a bad idea as the lines were amazing long down at creekside gondy but oh well.

Meet up with another mate of mine in the afternoon & had a booterville sesh. Spent roughly an hour making our own kicker into some fresh power that no one had touched. After 3 or 4 runs we were knackered of hiking so we call it a day. I got a few snaps from the day.

Okay, so what happened to hit run? No more side hits, roped off side hits, what are you thinking Whistler?!?!

They are trying to keep the beginner & slow zones safer by grooming those small walls so it’s impossible to hit all the side hits. The main trails i’ve seen them to this is ‘Easy out’ on Blackcomb & ‘Pony trail’ on whistler.

From an instructors point of view i do understand it’s super annoying having the only beginner run from the top of blackcomb with people bombing it down hitting all the side hits taking out my class. But on the other side of things it makes the run towards the terrain garden boring as hell without all those side hits.

I think they need to move the terrain garden to it doesn’t come off the only green from the top of Blackcomb.

Oh & i don’t like that pony trail is completely roped off. Whistler has so many easy green runs in the ‘Family zone’ under emerald chair they don’t need an extra closed off run towards red in which used to have some killer side hits.

That’s my 2 cents.

Yeah I know, Whistler has so many runs for beginners I don’t think they need to close off the hit run when it gets closer towards red chair, not a lot of beginners go that way anyway.

Yeah it’s pretty funny the extent the mountain has gone to kill the hit run this year.  It’s like we’re in a transitional period between the old ideas of the generation before us that remain in upper management and the new ideas of the younger generation that don’t really get much of a say in the matter.  It’s really only a matter of time before old views retire and new trains of thought can evolve like snowboarding has.
Just my 2 cents though…...

To cheer you all up here is a silly edit I made from one of my day sin Whis back in Jan.

No hit run means I will probably ride Whistler only on pow days, and Blackcomb for the rest.
