Is there a “go to latest post” button on this forum or am I just blind? It’s killing me.
Just click on the Posted: (date/time etc) on the right hand side, above the name of the last person that posted!!!!!
Or, on the highest page number that shows up under the title of the thread!!!!!
Can’t wait till I go back to Canadaaa

You could subscribe to the thread?????
All good, I’ll just manually do it
So how do drivers licenses work up there? Can I rock up with my Aussie one, pay a fee and get a local one or is there a test involved?
I’d rather carry that around as ID and leave my drivers licence and passport at home.

You can drive with your AUS license for the first 90 days, and everywhere around here recognises your AUS license as valid ID for liquor stores, pubs, clubs, etc.
You can swap it for a BC license in the first 90 days if you meet the requirements, but I’m pretty certain they keep your AUS one if you do. Info is here http://www.icbc.com/driver-licensing/moving-bc/moving-dl/most-countries
PS. I also ‘may’ have heard from a very reliable source it would be “extremely surprising” if they don’t open on the 17th - some lifts on Whistler only and everything else on the 22nd.
I’m new to snowboarding (only been once many years ago) so I’m stoked to get out there!

Maybe this is what you are looking for?

Getting a BC license is pretty easy. I’ve got one now since I’ve spent more time over there than here over the past few years.
You need to have your driving record from australia faxed over to the office in Whistler. You can’t just get your record here and hand it to them over there as they’ll only accept documents faxed directly to them from the RTA etc. If you call the whistler office they’ll be able to give you the fax number that you can have your record sent through to. Once you’ve gone in there they’ll take your australian license off you and issue with a temporary license (sheet of paper) until the plastic card is sent out to you as it gets sent up from their head office from memory.
It’s been confirmed, 17th opening
Anyone want a wager lol
I wish but even looking at the long range forecast the 22nd could even be in a bit of trouble.
So they actually physically take your Aus license? What the hell for? Can I get it back in May or do I need to go back here and pay even more money to then get another one?
Conditions are looking good to me…

I’m pretty sure they take it and destroy it. That said, I also think you’re able to use your Australian license for up to three months, without needing a BC license (if that helps you at all).
Unless you’re going to need a BC license for work or youre going to be doing lots of driving over there then there’s not much point in getting one to be honest.
If you only want it for ID purposes maybe they have something similar to a proof of age card in Canada.
I know in america because of some states who don’t accept “out of state” ID (particularly Colorado) you can get an ID card to get into bars (otherwise you had to take your passport out with you!)
