I’ve ridden in some wet snow and rain this season and ended up with very wet boots. They don’t dry out overnight in the drying room if left in one piece. Do you guys rip out the inner so your boots dry better? I’ve heard with ski boots you should always keep the shell buckled up after you take them off so they don’t lose their shape. Is this also the case with boarding boots? if so, is it ok to rip out the inner and just lace up the outer to keep it in shape?
take em out get them dry, fabreeze is your friend, trust me I have BOYS! then put them back together as soon as they are dry. Same if you have ski boots… get them DRY
Yep definitely take them out and also remember to take out any footbed/insole you have in there as well or moisture will get stuck under them.
I always took out my inners which definatly helped.
I now have a RAD boot dryer. I highly recommend getting one. Think they ar 70-80 bucks. well worth it. work great over night
Yeah, if you want them to dry properly, you need to take out the inners and footbeds. And yes, the same goes for snowboard boots - do the lace’s up when you’re not using them to help keep the shape and stiffness.
sweet, questions answered - thanks all! My inners have been washed and are now sitting upside down over a central heating vent. The outers have also been washed, laced up and are sitting upside down over another vent. Will have to check out fabreeze (thanks, Tambo!) And I did figure out to take the footbeds out by myself
You might also try the newspaper trick (stuff some newspaper in the liners), and yes, take the footbeds out, if you don’t, you might end up with mold and other stuff growing in there.
Especially after spring riding!
I would strongly recommend getting a portable boot dryer. I have one that I keep in Canada and I don’t know how I could live without it. I’m in my boots all day and my boots get saturated by the end of the day. I use the boot dryer overnight and they are bone dry by the morning.
I’ve recently tested the Radical Gloves boot dryer in Australia. My boots are 300+ days old with holes in the heel, and they were absolutely saturated at the Shred. I put the boots on the Rad boot dryer overnight and they were warm and completely dry by the morning. They use very little energy as well.
We are selling the Rad boot dryers through the forums. Happy to bump the price down to $60 for you. That would include free shipping.
