The BOARDWORLD Forums ran from 2009 to 2021 and are now closed and viewable here as an archive
And we had to sacrifice this years Shred to go and see Baby Mizu in Mexico, along with sacrificing virtually the whole season down under, so we can spend a month in Japow!!!!!
And I reckon that everyone on here sacrifices if they wanna do some memorable stuff!!!!!
Snowboarding in itself forces ya to sacrifice other things in life as it is!!!!!
I WILL be at next years Shred!!!!! It WILL be my one and only stint down under for next season too, but it will definitely be well worth the sacrifice!!!!!
And I’m sure if ya experienced stayin on hill with the BW Crew, you’d feel the same way too, cords!!!!!
Cords I understood what you are trying to say but I think that you are wrong - sorry.
The majority of people went and were happy to pay and stay on snow.
I don’t think there were too many people who missed out of this years Shred due to the “expensive” costs.
For the most part, the people who stayed at The Sundeck were those who were determined to attend the Shred no matter what. Had it been based at The Station and promoted properly, the Shred had the potential to attract a whole lot of new people to both the Shred, and Boardworld. Instead, as good as it was, it was essentially an exclusive event for existing core members.
Opportunity missed, bigtime.
what chucky said. (wow! i really love it when that happens!)
of course the people who went were happy and were glad they did, I’m not suggesting anyone would regret going. I just know while ever that is the format and i don’t have sweet hookups like crackers, I probably won’t ever shell out the cash, and I wouldn’t be the only one.
I’m sure there was something like 40+ people at the Sundeck. I personally think that should be classed as a successful event for BW.
I might be wrong, but based on last years Shred, the numbers increased!!!!!
And I think that the on snow element is a key contributer to the success of the event!!!!!
If you can afford $3000 to go to Japan, then you can afford it to go to the Shred!!!!!
It’s just a matter of what ya want most I guess?????
Yep I think we can say that the numbers were easily double this year vs last year!
Successful event for sure!

40+ of the same people as usual (ie. Boardworld regulars who would come no matter what), vs. possibly hundreds of newcomers in years to come if it was accessible to all, and promoted accordingly.

Evidently NOT.

Why force people to choose, when they can potentially have both?
Successful event for sure!
Sure, for what it was.
For what it could have been, not so much.
Sorry but if a 100 randoms show up next year then the shred is not for me.
i stay in jindy most or the time to goto the snow and try and do it pretty cheap, but im more than happy to dish out the extra cashola to stay on the snow and get fed breakfast and dinner. STAY ON THE SNOW!!!
Can’t be bothered getting into a discussion about this, but there were heaps of new crew this year.
For me, a great snow trip means,
1. Staying on snow
2. Good crew to ride with
I want to be able to have a drink at lunch, or afternoon tea not worry about who is driving.
Walk out the door and strap in, at the end of the day slide back to the door again.
It cost us (the 5 in my ute) $861 each for 4 days on snow (passes), three nights accom, breakfast, dinner & tube.
$215.25 a day, yes not cheap, but good bang for buck with whats covered.
Lots less than most people throw down for a snow holiday.
End of the day, there is no right or wrong.
If the Shred ended up with accom off mountain, I’d still stay on the hill, as I am far too old for driving up and down each day

100% agree.
Bowing out now!
Haha… everyone has their own opinion, mine is - I ain’t driving 8 hours to stay at the base of a mountain
Don’t get me wrong, I do stay off mountain a fair bit too (Harrietville/Bright) - but in the case of the shred, on snow for sure!!
The station is a great place yes - we stayed there on the Sunday of the shred!! I’d just prefer to be on snow…
