The next Shred, WHERE?

We’ve had a portable kitchen set up in our rooms - a toaster and two electric hotplates. A microwave would have been overkill. Bacon/eggs/sausages/hamburgers/ steaks/pancakes etc. - the Ron Swanson Diet! Yeeeewwww!

yeah we’ve got a camping kitchen, but by the time you take a pot and a pan and washing up stuff…...we have a fairly tiny microwave and I think I’d still go the microwave. I can easily survive on canned dinners and noodles with tuna (pole and line caught!) for a week.

Call me a snob, but parking my car at the tube, jumping on the train, then a quick over snow trip to the sun deck….........

Cooked breakfast, cooked dinner, suited Tambo and I down to the ground smile

$495 for three nights, I’d be more than happy to do it again (and will)

Not a snob, just more disposable income than most. I’d rather get 2 shred trips for my money if I could.

I don’t think Azz was in the minority here - since most of us stayed there! And with 4 kids to feed I don’t think he is flush with a massive disposable income!

A lot of people who came on the shred it was their only snow trip this season and most people don’t have the luxury of taking any more time of work etc.

So yes some people may choose 2 weeks and stay at the station and some people who only get one shot on snow choose to spend their money in a different way.

To each his own.

wasn’t having a go at him at all, I was just responding in agreement with chucky’s sentiment that if it had been somewhere cheaper, then more people would probably have come. I know some stayed at the station anyway but I’m sure they’ll agree that it isn’t the same.

I guess the Shred is one of those gig where the action is where the people are at smile

Sadly not everyone can be camped at the same place, all comes down to whats going on in your life at that time.

I am finding that our lives (winter part) are revolving around the shred, I think there is a tradition starting to form shaka

I KNOW Azz doesn’t have a huge disposable income, and that much planning and prep goes into saving for the shred. Sure, we get a fair bit of time at the snow, but it’s really our only sport, and we are planning for next year already. We go without other things to make it happen… AND it’s worth it too.

Yeah, I can sympathize with not havin a huge disposable income too!!!!!

sorry, I must have been taken the wrong way. I’m simply making the point that if the shred is at a much cheaper location (such as the station) then many more people can come. The more expensive it is, the more exclusive an event it becomes. Simple as that. If you don’t care how many, or what type of people come, then make it as expensive as you like.
