Just ordered an iPhone 5

Avatar

the new dock apple has come out with is an 8 or 9 pin dock compared to the 30 pin dock they have been using previously, it supposed to be alot quicker in terms of charge and transfer rates. The new dock will be out on their new ipad and ipod as well. If you have speakers with an ipod dock don’t stress as they have made an adapter ($35). I dont personally think the upgrade from the 4s to the 5 is mind blowing however going from a 3Gs to a 5 will be a huge upgrade (my mate is doing the same thing). Anyway let us know what you think of it!!

Josh you have some good points but the line where you say that people have reception but can’t use their phones is congestion. Then should put another tower in like Telstra did.

Yeah i understand the congestion side of the Network, but when we look at it as a business perspective Perisher is busy for 3 Months of the year in a 5km radius. Plus its not easy or cheap to get permission to stick a big ugly tower in the middle of a national park thats prone to some harsh environment conditions, nor can we easily lay a 40km Fibre backhaul into the tower.

Im currently doing work on the Optus 4G network rollout, and i can say its really impressive thus far. Although its only in the CBD and surrounds at the moment things are looking good, and they are really starting to push us to roll out more and more. We have a pretty tight schedule that we are ahead of at the moment.

Im more looking forward to NBN than 4G but thats an argument for another day lol

Having said that I should let you know that the 4G S3 is only a couple of weeks away and that is kind of make or break for some people.

this is something im considering waiting the few weeks for but dont think it will really bother me anyway as i dont think the 4g network will be in full swing for a couple more years but its still something playing on my mind when deciding..

Exactly cause any piece of tech is almost obsolete in a month!

it’s all basically obsolete as its released…technology is crazy with all the enhancements coming out each year…

Yeah, another reason why I didn’t end up with the HTC!!!!!

4G will take ages before it comes to Boganville, and Telstra’s 3G is plenty fast as it is on the 4S!!!!!

I haven’t done a whole lot of research on 4G so take my advice with a grain of salt. It would certainly be a factor in my decision making process if I was buying a phone soon “especially” if I was planning on keeping that phone for a lengthy period of time. You probably flick phones so quickly that it won’t be a huge deal for you as you might even be due for another new phone before 4G is completely rolled out.

I’m also sceptical of how long it will be before congestion becomes a problem. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the theoretical maximums of 3G/HSPA+ because of congestion bottlenecking it before it get’s there. Sure 4G will fly for the initial adopters I just really hope as more people jump on it, it doesn’t end up with the same congestion problems we all currently experience.

Yeah I’m glad there is this competition between Apple/Android as competition breeds innovation. I’m by no means an Apple hater it just frustrates me when people think they are the only choice. I’m very thankful for the initial iPhones. They were mine along with many peoples first real exposure to smart phones. We’ve come a long way since then and whenever the time comes around for me to select a new phone I will compare any of them and choose the one that I believe to be the best for me no matter what brand it has on the back.

Just came from a Motorola Android!!!!!

Similar sized screen as the iPhone 4S that I have now!!!!!

Yes I am well aware of that but I’m confused about the relevance of your statement being that a reason you went for a iPhone was because of the screen size?????

I can understand other reasons for the choice but you aren’t forced to buy a “big” android.

Personally I’m glad Apple has upped the screen size for the i5 though I think they could have taken it ever further. When I went from a 3GS to my S2 I was concerned the S2 would be too large. After using it for a couple of days when I went back to use the iPhone it became apparent how quickly I had become accustomed and preferred the increase in screen size. Admittedly as powerful as a Note 2 is I wouldn’t want something that large but I’m glad I have the option if I did.

If ya went back to my earlier posts, ya would’ve read that I had reduced my choices to either the HTC ONE XL or the iPhone 4S!!!!!

definitely agree with the whole congestion thing but we will never know until it comes about….

im thinking of just going ahead and getting the quad core s3 as luckily i am able to get a new phone every 12 months so by then i can make a switch to a 4g phone if it seems worth it….

my main reason for switching from apple though is that i believe ive done all i can with the iphones over the past years from the iphone 3 and now want something new to play/experiment with…if i do go the s3, ill give a report as to any real noticeable differences i come across between my current 4s and it for those interested..

Have ya checked out the HTC ONE XL, RPS?????

It is one nice phone if ya wanna swap to droid!!!!!

i actually havent mizu, a bloke at work has one and he seems to be happy with it…might hit him up tomorrow to have a play around with it

also only just realised that the s3 comes in white or blue….thought it was black

I still remember the “joys” of teaching you the art of jailbreaking (before it became as simple as clicking a button)

I might leave you to do you’re own research this time if you come to the dark side raspberry

just had a quick look at the htc mizu, it doesnt seem to have the option for external memory via micro sd which i found to be a plus with the samsung as something i was looking for that the iphone lacks.

It’s fairly greyish to the eye IRL

When the S3 was first released I vomited a bit in my mouth but as I see more of them it isn’t too bad. I still personally prefer the looks of the S2 though. Having said that unless it’s absolutely ghastly, the look of the phone is way down on my list of priorities.

I’m getting less patient as I get older (probably Mizu’s excuse tongue laugh ) and I reckon you’ve got better value out of me than most of the schools I work at!  LOL

I’ve never liked white phones but that could just be me.

Simple solution sticker the thing!!!!!
