Train him to run along side a bike or better still to tow you on a skateboard!
I once had a dog that would tow me on my skatey was awesome until she saw another dog, I learned to skate off road behind a charging cattleXdingo.

I plan to be!

Although the breeder that we got him from breeds hers specifically as “City Kelpies”. The working lines are not as strong, and they are typically 5-10 kg smaller than a regular Kelpie with strong working bloodlines. They are not as hyperactive as a working Kelping.

They still need lots of mental stimulation though, and I’ll be walking/running him at least every night anyway.

Here is a pic from a day or so ago.

I can see the pic! Cute!

Interesting about the city “breeding”

My parents are onto their second Shetland Sheep dog (miniature collie) and both of those dogs have working dog in them!

The funniest example is my old dog used to round the cat up through the nearest doorway whenever my mum vacuumed (every time without fall!)

Both have instinctive “known” what to do on the odd occasion they have been with the other working dogs on our friends farm.

I don’t think you can ever really get that working instinct out of them.

While her dogs are very content in backyards, and will happily chill out and wait for their owners to get home, they still display their natural instincts when given the opportunity.

She has one in particular that is a very chilled dog, but as soon as you get a ball out, it switches into working mode. his eyes fix onto the ball and won’t come off it until you throw it. If you see Kelpies herding they do the same thing with the sheep.

I know she’s had some customers who have taken her dogs to herding training, and even though they’ve never seen a sheep in their life, as soon as they get in they know what to do. It’s just in their blood. Although there have been plenty that want nothing to do with them too.

I also have a mate who has one, and he has 4-5 rubber duckies for his dog to play with, and when he throws them all around the room, he tries to “herd” them all into one spot. It’s pretty funny.

I hate that I still have to wait 3 weeks to get him!!!
