First time on the bike today. Bike 5km, swim 1km. Still pretty beat from Sunday.
Bike 11km, swim 1.5km.
I feel like I’m the only person posting in this thread. You all watched the SBS doco, didn’t you?
haha, Ive been out doing a bit more, but been forgeting to post in here.
Been heading out to the 1000 Steps a few times a week and doing multiple laps at a quick pace up them.
Went out Tuesday night and had the GPS on. Was a bit of a slow day cos I didnt go over the weekend and felt a bit flat.
And last night decided to go cut a lap on the Yarra in the kayak. Level is realy low atm, so heaps of flat water paddling and the rapids were more just bumping down some rocks haha, but did it for the work out, and went by myself so had no shuttle. Which was good, cos means I had to hike my kayak (20kgs) over Mt Lofty and back down to the car. Was a good work out haha. Will post pics of stats soon
Has anyone checked out the latest instalments of the Snowboard Addiction vids? Nev has teamed up with a fitness instructor to produce a snowboard-specific work-out and also a cool on-snow warm-up.
As for fitness, I’m about to ride my pushie home in a freakin’ tornado - does that count?
I have just got some new shoes (Asics Kayano) so im going to get back into it. Planning to go cut some laps in the ocean pool near my house aswell. Cant be stuffed signing up to do crossfit again right now so just going to swim and run for the foreseeable future
Tuesday night I walked none-stop 4hrs.
That was after moving sludge out of the almost empty dam - 8 wheelbarrow loads to my back door (40m uphill), where I’m building a vege patch.
In the last 3days I’ve put in 4hrs/day in the dam, I’ve moved about 1500kg of earth to my back door. As well as drudging out the wet sludge by hand and piling it up so it drys and isn’t so heavy in the wheelbarrow. Also manhandling 200kg rocks up into place to create an even rock slope to ride into the dry dam as a part of my back yard mtb course.
Then there is the rake work levelling where I’ve dumped earth on the lawn.
This arvo spent an hour walking around a reef at low tide then 0.5km along the beach.

I just bought the Kayano as well.
Well I’ll be a spoil sport and say I actually haven’t been overly thrilled with my Kayanos (I wear pretty much exclusively Asics)
Very early on my big toe poked a hole through the mesh, I get pain in my arch fairly quickly and I don’t find the insole anywhere near as comfy as my Asics Cross Trainers.
They might just not suit my foot though as they are a very popular runner.
It does depend on your foot. I have a flat foot, but dont wear orthodics anymore. I found them super supportive, lightweight, and comfy.
What were you using them for? I have an older pair that I use for everyday wearing at work, and a pair I use just for running. They are their top if the line running shoe. Not a crosstrainer. So they are not gonna be as durable as a cross trainier. They are mostly mesh.
Quite a few years back I was recommended the Brooks Beast!!!!!
I’ve been rockin them ever since!!!!!
Prior to wearin them, I had real bad probs with my hoofs!!!!!
.
What were you using them for?
They were bought with the intention of using them for running/walking. I guess I got off to a bad start when I could see my sock and big toe after only a few outings. I have a very sensitive arch on one foot which can tighten up with the wrong shoe and unfortunately these just didn’t seem to like each other.
They have now been relegated to Gym/Popping down to the shops shoes. Not overly devo as running is low on my list of exercises I enjoy doing and they are a shoe that’s fairly easy to get cheaply.
Did a 45 minute pilates session and swam 1km today. My swimming fitness is definitely picking up, but I am still all over the place in pilates (almost fell off the machine which made my instructor laugh). Doh!
