That’s it!!!!!
Not only am I gettin out of bed today, I’m gonna dress myself too!!!!!
Whats with this C25km thing, I think the last time I went running was in March this year, seeing as my SUP is in getting fixed I decided to go for a soft sand run yesterday arvo. Did a bit over 5km in 45 mins or so, not very fast but it was in soft sand, why is couch to 5km taking anyone more then one or two goes to reach, seriously? I’m not trying to bignote myself in anyway but it’s not really that hard, too many people try to ease themselves into things and end up getting next to nothing out of it. For those of you who know me I am not exactly a picture of fitness at a bit over 6’2” and 110kgs so if I can crank it out and not drop dead of heart failure I reckon most people can.
Cause um yeah I was in serious pain trying to do it!
And I did one “run” in the middle of winter when I am at my fittest
It is such a phenomenon that clearly the rest of us mere mortals can’t compare to you!
Hey Kim, Nike had an ad campaign for a long time that applies here.
I just had a look at the website, lots of stories on there. I guess I am not by nature a patient person and find pain when it comes to exercise to be a good thing and may find it hard to relate to others who don’t look at it the same way. It’s also brought on by watching others and at times myself take what I consider to be the easy option when it comes to this stuff. I have done it before and kicked myself later for wasting my time on some new fangled easy way of doing things.
Probably came across as knocking the program which I pretty much was, I was just a little bemused yesterday when after smoking a pack a day up until Melb Cup (had a few since then too), a massive weekend on the booze, pizza the night before, rooted knees, tendency for shin splints and being literally in the obese range for BMI I cranked out 5km without really even feeling too much drama. What I’m not knocking however is someone having a desire to do something about their physical fitness and I guess if that’s what’s going to work for someone I should shut up about it.
We need a BW beep test competition!
NBG has just thrown himself in as favourite
I’ve just started playing tennis for the first time in my life (one of the rare sports I never tried) My mate I’m playing with happens to be an ex rep player in high school so I’m forced to push myself. After two 1.5hr hitouts I’m enjoying it and progressing decently.
I am however learning about forearm muscles I never knew existed. Deadlifts tonight are going to be interesting!
Beep testing is very different IMO
Short burst of running are very different to trying to run even just 5mins straight
I find Beep testing way easier but Lactic acid gets has got so bad for me with beep testing i have fallen over…
Also C25K is about easing you into something. No one is going to keep running if they are in serious pain.
Don’t get the Nike ad
IMO beep testing is a better test of the participants true fitness/recovery than simply running 5km (which I agree with NBG isn’t exactly a difficult task fitness wise when factoring out injuries, knees etc)
Once you get to the higher levels it’s not so much a series of short runs it becomes a continuous run unless you’re usain bolt
It used to be great fun beep testing at high school watching people puking there guts up on the side whilst trying to concentrate on the task at hand.

FACT!
I am in the same boat,
P.S. the only exercise i have been doing is dancing like a mad kent, sweating my arse off and drinking buckets…that counts right?

[*] Leg Workout
[*] Cardio
[*] Bucket Arm Curls
[*] Keeping up hydration
[*] Cleansing sweat
[*] Presuming when frenchie shows up there will be a core workout
Counts IMO
there was a core workout prior to going out
Last time I did a beep test was very early on in my AFL training career when I still very much looked like someone who did weights rather than run a lot, I think I got to early in the 12’s I think from memory, most of the group has pulled out by 14 but there was a few whippets who kept going. Needless to say I’m going to lose a beep test badly ha ha!
Tennis is fun, did it a bit as a kid but one of my best mates and I go through stages where we will play a lot and then not for 6 months. Very competitive and evenly matched, we have had games run out to a couple of hours and involve deuces that run into 30-35 points, winning those is awesome.
Deano, core workouts are key to a healthy spine, I commend you on your efforts and insist you continue with these 4-5 times daily whilst in Thailand, French training partners are great for this. THe other parts of your fitness regime sounds entertaining if nothing else.
To illustrate a point I decided to spend my lunch doing a 5km run, this time on the road, in the heat of the middle of the day and involving lots of hills. I got exactly what I wanted, pain totally made me it’s bitch but I didn’t stop even when I felt the beginnings of a dehydration headache kick in about the 4km mark. I did have to down 6 schooners of water and sit in a cold shower for 15mins afterwards trying to regulate my body temp back down but hey I opened my big mouth ha ha.
Anyone else use Endomondo to track workouts and stuff, would be interesting to “friend” everyone on here to see whose been doing what, this is my track from just now.
Took me a while, but I’m finally dressed!!!!!
