That is because you are a skier and I (at the moment) are the boss around here since Jez is roadtripping and Mizu is AWOL.
K2 and Billy are my deputies smirk

Hey Muddy !!!!!!

You forgot to mention the looks we were getting when I was calling you Honey when out riding, the strange looks stopped after I started calling you Muddy cheese

Was awesome fun riding with you. Just wait until next year when the shred is at Hotham, then you really get the stoke when your riding with a big heap of BW crew.

Will have to teach you how to do nose and tail press 360 spins.

Awesome report mate, super impressed shaka

thanks Azz, look forward to riding with you again.  I should be up again the week before school hols, which I think is the week after the Shred.

sorry to rebump this thread (although the TR is excellent and deserves a bump!) - I read is after seeing the contest..

just a few things..

1) dont worry about your carving.. im WAY worse!! haha but still have heaps of fun.. i look at guys like Azz on the mountain and just hope one day ill be able to do that! (eg. my bf and his friend.. they hit the 20ft jumps in the park.. i slid over them haha)

2) im not sure if any one has suggested this.. but i noticed you said you had a few issues with the gopro and mixing up buttons (how frustrating is it??)  so i went and got myself a remote.. they wont ship them from gopro.com, but you can buy them on ebay.. i got mine from a camera shop in SA, (on ebay) was about 150 with shipping, (wifi bacpac included too)  and its like a wrist watch, the screen mirrors whats on your gopro screen.. with a large record and mode button! they are AWESOME!! and solved the problem for me

3) Im a converted skier.. i used to LOVE skiing, untill i twisted my knee badly.. and had to drive back to sydney on it a day later.. i could barely walk.. and 2 days later it resulted in an apple sized blood blister/bruise on the back of my knee..  still plays up when stressed..  so there went my skiing days.. (kept feeling uneasy and like it was just going to give out on me, and i was paranoid about reinjuring it, as im on my feet 10-12 hours a day at work..

so my bf convinced me to try boarding.. i got put on a 154 that was like a plank of wood.. i couldnt even lift it with both legs while sitting down to bind in.. and that resulted in me HATING boarding.. my immediate reaction was, this sucks put me back on skis and ill just tape my knee..  he was persistant.. and insisted i try boarding once more.. on a different board (after he picked mine up and discoved it was much heavier than his 153 (and his about 10cms tall than me))

soooo.. i gave it another shot on a 145.. and started to like it.. it was much easier on my knees.. but was soooo frustrating that i could jump on skis.. and over take him on his board.. yet on a board.. he was long gone and i just kept falling over.. but i was determined to stick with it.. and now honestly.. i doubt ill got back to skis, maybe one day for a laugh.. but im so inlove with boarding.. and its much easier for me now..

anyway, the point to my rant is.. it might be frustrating at first.. and yes you do wake up sore the first few times.. but it really is so much fun! try to get her to give it another go.. (if she was turning the first day.. she isnt far off it.. i spent a week on my butt, knees,  side, front, back, etc.. i think my arms were more sore than my legs from getting up all the time..) took me about 7-8 days before i was turning.. and about 10 days till i was carving..

** i think also coming from skiing seems to be harder.. i had this preconception of going straight.. not sideways.. and just plowed. falling leaf’d most runs.. cos sideways meant speed.. and that i couldnt see anything to my right.. yet we had a few friends jump on boards, first time at the snow.. and pick it up in a day..

anyways, nice TR, and congratz on the win!! smile

Nice write up. I want the GP3 as it comes with the remote. $150 is a bit exxy imo.

On skiing to snowboarding, heavy / longer boards will always make it harder to learn. They are harder to turn and stiffer = faster.

Once you get the basics of stopping down pat, just keep chasing people better than you. I got decent in a few weeks of 2-3 days a week riding when I lived down there because my mates would be going pretty quick and I didn’t want to hold them up lol.

haha yeh my last weekend there i chased my bf down Mt.P (towers run) and pretty much kept up till the end.. smile
last season i did just over 2000vert. M in 6 days..
this season?.. just under 26k vert. m!!  and 21 days (a few days, when i wasn’t teach freinds gf’s or in the park taking photos etc.. i did more vert m, in a day than i had done all last season!) i was so stoked when i saw that hehe
