A guy at work’s board has been damaged on top from ski poles etc hitting it. Happened a couple years ago and has spread since.
As you can see the cracks have spread across the top of the board and have split. He is worried about snow/water seeping into the core of the board.
1 - Is this a major problem?
2 - Can it be fixed?
Any help is appreciated

Sticker time??
Haha might be the answer! thanks AJ!
I viewed it Blizz but I got nothing!!!! .... I’m putting stickers on my board even without topsheet damage tho…
i had that on an old burton board and i had the cracks on the edges fixed with marine glue. but then last summer (which was quite hot) made the whole thing crack! What I mean is, first it looked like your pic but then after the summer it was super cracked and peeling. I did a full board sticker job and kept riding it ok though.
I can make you a board wrap in vinyl if you like
Surely you can use a resin on it. AJ’s got the best idea though
What kind of board is it? alot of manufactures spray a clear coat over the board to give it that glossy look, and it looks to me like its the clear coat that is cracking, there will be a plastic topsheet under the clear coat that will stop any water getting into the core and also a layer of fiberglass under that so i wouldnt be to worried about it.
Pretty hard to fix up well, you could try a 2 pac coating and a bit of sanding, but id really doubt the cracks will ever cause any problems other than visual anyway

I’ll have to pass on all the feedback
This is the board
That board should be replaced anyway. It is old, damaged and was a cheap board to begin with.
When you can easily get good brand name boards for as cheap as $229 (Forum Contact from Torpedo7 (only upto 150 though)) it’s as good of a time as ever to get off a no-name plank…
I watched the video for that board, the guy goes on to say it has a “Wood core” like it’s something special…
Here is one that might interest for <$300

Thanks for your honest feedback TJ. I don’t think he gets to the snow that often so I don’t think a new board is something he would want to commit too.
Fair enough. You’ll just have to get him more interested
I don’t think you can do much to fix that sort of damage. I doubt it would make much of a difference anyway. Tell him to just ride it till it dies then invest in a new board.
