Northern Hemisphere Musings

Avatar

Sooooo,

I know a lot of people are up in the air about what they are doing next Northern Hemisphere so I thought I would start a thread where people could bounce ideas around (rather than taking over threads of actually destinations)

I am planning a trip give or take 3 weeks over xmas/nye and I don’t really know what I want to do besides NOT go to Japan.

I have been looking at fares and they are very cost prohibitive over that period and today I had the brilliant idea of a round the world ticket!

I looked and found one for 5 stops from only $2249 - (at Best flights - i just got an error trying to post the link)

So I am thinking for flying to Europe over Christmas and then heading to the states for a couple of weeks. All for a fare that is cheaper than a current quoted return to either London or LA! I could even sneak in a day or two lying on a beach!

I really need to submit my tax return so I can get on this!

Edited to add: Billy!!!! Oh Billy!!!

Freddy and I will be in Sälen, Sweden for the season. Not sure when we’re getting there exactly yet, but we’ll leave Australia in november sometime, spend a bit of time with his family & hopefully be up there working in Dec. Can’t frigging wait!

I stopped reading here….....  blank stare

Good find on the ticket though. Presuming you’re also restricted to travelling in peak periods, hopefully the USA got it’s bad season out of the way this year. You’ve travelled much more than me so I have absolutely no advice to offer!

Just confirming you have no choice on when to holiday as I’m experiencing similar problems with tickets being significantly more expensive during school holidays.

Oh I get you!

Sorry I thought you were talking about the fare on the ticket!

Yeah we close for 3 weeks over Christmas. But only have to take 10 days for that (they give us freebie days between the holidays of xmas/ny) so it is bittersweet really!

That would be fun! But I would only offer it if we were in our own place by then, which I have no idea about and probably won’t for a couple of months…so I wouldn’t make any plans in that direction just yet. I will let you know though…When we know stuff, I will be so excited I’ll be blurting to anyone and everyone. I’m hoping we can get a place that isn’t just a glorified shoebox, and has room to swing a cat/have someone stay. Our last house for the season was lovely and clean and cosy for 2 of us, but very small and the 2 guests we had, had to sleep on a very uncomfortable couch!

Would love to… but don’t have the annual leave and spent my tax return on NZ trip.

2014 - Russia is still the plan or I will go to the world cup (Brazil) and get no snow…
