Each year I get into the sport a bit more football/futball/soccer
I’m excited to have watched the last 2 USA games and shared that experience with others.
The games come on in the mornings for me here. I was at work and watching the excitement in the break room. Speculating if we tied or won etc.
When Donovan scored in +1 stoppage time, it was a loud roar that we all yelled out. I know we caused a commotion!
So, the US plays Ghana next…. I’m glad it’s not Germany.
Germany should take out England.
Sadly if I were to choose other teams. I’d probably be picking England, and I’d pick Ghana too just because they are the only team left to represent the continent they are on. But I do think USA will win.
We’ll see. It’s all so unpredictable.
Italy lose to Slovenia and get knocked out at the bottom of their group. Italy and France gone - I guess a lot has changed in four years. Japan had a great win against Denmark, so they will face Paraguay in their next game. USA should beat Ghana, and I’m expecting Germany to beat England.

Good to hear someone else thinks US will prevail, and I think that many believe Germany will do very well in the tournament.
I’m sad for Italy and their loss.
I’d like to see AUS and NZ still in as well, but they are not. I’m quickly running out of teams to be excited about.

I think I like the Netherlands - Cause of an exchange student in grade school was from there and he was cool. Plus they are 3-0 for the tourny.
And I guess I’d like to see Mexico do well, their country could use the excitement (but I cant really justify why I’d feel that way)

I enjoyed most of the Brazil and Portugal game. I think Brazil played better.
Portugal has many great players, but they dont operate as a team as much as Brazil did. That was my impression anyway. I saw more impressive things from individuals on Portugal, but they just diddnt have success passing and working together as Brazil did. Maybe because Brazil was so good when on the defensive?
Im hoping to watch the USA game today. It comes on at 2:30PM for me today, but it is Saturday, and I’ve really got no other plans.
I think we have a good chance at winning. Im just really glad were not playing Germany!
Slider, you’ve hit the nail on the head about portugal’s individuals. I observed ronaldo to be a bit of a ball hog in terms of haivng a ping on every free kick or every time he had the ball in the offensive half, disregarding his teammates. He’s a great player nonetheless but i reckon he might’ve cost portugal on that match.
The portugal brazil draw made my wallet frown. But having tipped a 2-1 for spain-chile, my wallet was grinning by early morning again.
The USA Ghana match is burning my brains. It could swing either way because Ghana is less of the attacking side to US but their defense is rock solid. This leaves a lot of room for quick breaks by Ghana and defensively wise, the US isn’t great. But with players like dempsey and donovan on the US’s side, Ghana defense will be severely tempted. If Ghana gets the first goal, you’d be looking at the entire Ghana team in the box for the rest of the game. But if US gets it, I reckon the game will be pretty wild!! :D
