I guess you will be asked:

how tall/heavy are you?
what sort of riding to you do?
what is your shoe size?

well first things first mate.
Where are you located?

What boots have you ridden in the past?
Do you want stiff boots? soft?
What type of riding do you prefer?

Not sure what you mean man? Do you mean what is important when finding a boot? Or which boots you should be looking at?

Everyone has a different brand and boot that fits them best. The only real thing you can do is try them all on.

32’s tend to have a wide toe box. But that’s about as far as I can help with difference between brands.
I ride 32 Lashed - Light, and low profile. But haven’t found them overly waterproof and they do get soft quite fast.

With that setup I would look for a soft/mid flexin boot!!!!! Especially if ya mainly gonna be hittin the park more than bombin hills!!!!!

The rest is up to ya foot, and a good boot fitter/shop assistant!!!!!

Hi Dylan
The best boot for you is the one that fits you best (Most comfortable with the least heel lift and holds your foot in place).
That’s the golden rule that u have to start with. Find the boots that do this and if there is more than one in the store, you are a lucky man.

If you do have a choice of a few boots that fit u well, then don’t go too soft. A medium flex is probably best if you haven’t decided how flexy u like your boots yet.
If you go for a really soft boot on a rockered board, u may find that is way too much flex in your whole set up and have less control over your board.
A stiff boot ‘might’ work well for you, but only certain people like riding with stiff boots.

A medium flexing boot is the safe option for sure.

I used to ride a Libtech with Cartel bindings which is almost the same setup you’re on (libtech make gnu) and I used Burton Ruler boots and Also Burton Ozone boots. Both worked well with that setup. The Ruler is probably a better choice for you because it’s a medium flex and they are a really good boot for their price!

Hope that helps ollie

Hi guys
Thanks for all the swift responses, i didnt quiet word what i said first correctly, i was after recommendations and i spose sort of reviews of boots that other people have riden, of course the fit will be all on me and i will probably go for a mid flex boot, but im more so wondering about features you liked in the boots and problems you may have had with them
Andy the ruler is defiantly a boot that will be taken into consideration
Deano i live in coffs harbour so ill probably go to goldy, brissy or Sydney (Depends where i get sent for work)
Mudhoney im roughly 172 cm tall and 63kg, not 100% on boot size, and i suppose you would class my riding as all mountain freestyle

Are there any stores you guys would recommend?

Take your bindings with you!!!!!!!!

It’s important to see how well the boot sits in the binding.

My boots didn’t fit well in mine once and had a bit of slop. One day when bombing down a hill the slipped, I lost control and tore my calf muscle from my ankle to my knee. It was the weak link in the chain.

Take your bindings and your riding socks. Make sure it all matches up.

And most importantly fully exercise your feet so the muscles in them have swollen with blood and are in prime workout mode otherwise you may find they “felt fine in the store but hurt on the hill”.

Take your time and try a few stores. The first store my not stock the boot for you. DON’T SETTLE FOR SECOND BEST.

And don’t set a budget.
Your boots are your most important piece of equipment. If a cheap pair fit you perfect buy them. But be prepared to spend a small fortune if you have to.

Great advice spaz, i would have never thought to take my bindings
Far out sounds like you had a world of pain on your hands that day and for a few months
yea as far as budget goes, i had one for my board (quiet reasonable) but for bindings and boots there was never a limit

Syd/Goldy/Brissy have plenty of snow shops so im sure you will be fine with choice there.
You might be able to grab some of last years models on sale prior to this coming season.

in terms of lacing, you may have a choice of either regular laces or various speed-lacing systems.  With the speed-lacing systems eg. BOA, I have been told that it is better to go for one that has two zones ie. you can tighten the upper and lower part of the boot independently.  This is better because with a single zone system you may find the upper boot is tight but the lower is too loose.  Not sure if it’s a big deal, but something to consider if you have a choice.

yep it is pretty much consensus around here (as far as I know) that single BOA is no good. That is definitely my experience.
I love the lacing system on my Northwave boots….in fact I just love my northwave boots all round.

Yeah, no love for the single BOA from me either!!!!!

I am a laces man from the day I stepped outta my BOA’s!!!!!

The main problem is that ya can’t adjust the “tightness” in each zone of the boot!!!!! It just tightens up equally across the whole boot, which sounds great but is far from it, and gives a really sore foot at the end of the day!!!!! Double BOA is supposedly better, but I still have my doubts!!!!!

Plus it is way easier to keep a spare bootlace in ya accom/pocket etc etc, incase ya bust one!!!!! With BOA it does require maintenance on occasion!!!!!

What Cords said. lol

Although the BOA has come a long way, my friend had her BOA boots for 3 seasons and they were fine.
I will say though, if your going down that road, be prepared for them to fail and also only get the double BOA system. The single boa tightens the boot up unevenly (REALLY unevenly).

I prefer quick lace systems just cause I’m in and out of my boots alot. I’ve always used burtons speed lace boots. I’ve had about 5 pairs and only one broke after a lot of use. And they warrantied it wink

Most girls like BOA because it is quick and easy!!!!!

And then they complain about it bein uncomfortable!!!!!  teacherboy
