THE SEARCH FOR AUSTRALIA’S BEST BOWL-RIDING TALENT BEGINS!
Rider Registrations now open for Hurley Australian Bowl-riding Championships.
Tuesday 10th of January 2012: Registrations open today as the search for Australia’s best up and coming bowl-riding talent are about to take place at the Hurley Australian Bowl-riding Championships (ABC™), January 26th-28th, held at Bar Beach-Empire Park Skate Park in Newcastle.
Hurley and World Cup Skateboarding encourage Australian bowl-riders from every skill level and age to get their registrations in and practice on in order to battle it out at the comp for a piece of $20,000 prize pool and wild card entry into one of the biggest and most successful professional bowl series in Australasia, VANS BOWL-A-RAMA™.
“We want all bowl-riders to get down here and be a part of this inaugural comp! Potentially an unknown skater from the middle of nowhere could come up through the system and end up skating against Pedro Barros, Bucky Lasek, or Rune Glifberg at Vans Bowl-A-Rama™. There has never been an opportunity like this before in Australia, and I think it’s going to be an amazing experience for young skaters and great for the scene,” comments World Vert Champ, Renton Millar.
Hurley Australian Bowl-riding Championships offers four divisions, Mtn Dew Am Jam U18’s, Pro/Am, Masters (over 40’s) and Female open division in a true ‘Nationals’ skateboarding competition.
Three Dew Am Jam Under 18’s competitors will be chosen to showcase their talent in the Dew Am Jam at Vans BOWL-A-RAMA™ Bondi and five Australian pro and five masters competitors will also be given the opportunity to qualify to ride alongside industry greats within their divisions on February 25th at Bondi Bowl.
“I’m super excited to compete against Australia’s best skaters and its great to have a Skateboarding National Titles dedicated to bowl-riding,” Comments Hurley rider Jack Fardell. “The Hurley ABC™ is a great start to the year from this major event it flows to the Beach Bowl at the Australian Open of Surfing then to Bondi Beach for Vans BOWL-A-RAMA™,” he adds.
