Can you apply for the Canadian Social insurance number, while in Australia? or do you have to wait until you’re in Canada?

You have to do it in Canada. Allow an extra day when you arrive to get it done. It doesn’t take long, maybe 30 mins, but it would be very hard to get around with all your luggage. Probably best to check into a hotel in Downtown Vancouver for a night. If you need any further info let me know.
