The mountain isn’t scheduled to open till November 24th. I’d give it a bit of time. If you selected to have it mailed, I’m sure they will.

Here’s a parks update from Whistler Blackcomb:

Very nice, Korver.  Great spot. You must be getting so excited for the mountain to open. I was there this time last year and I was going crazy with excitement.

Yeah those weeks leading up to opening day are awesome.. kind of bummed that I’ll be working here rather than getting all excited over there.

Hey dudes, wicked thread with all the info. I’m heading up to Whistler for my first full season first week of December staying until Mid-March. On my own not going for a job just to board. I’ve been hitting up craigslist everyday but no bites on a place to stay as people are wanted for all the way to April 30. Any recommendations on how to find a decent place? I’m just thinking a room in a bigger place/house. Hell a decent couch would probably work. Thanks for any info.

Hey gmart, welcome to the forums,

If I hear of anything I’ll pass it on - unfortunately most people will only look for 6 month rental agreements due to the amount of seasonal workers that live in Whistler. If you get stuck you’re best option may be to just fork out the cash for April and then see if you can find someone to come in for that month and then work out the difference. I did a similar thing last season for May - just took up a room in a friends place as a couple was arriving later on so they just wanted someone to fill the room for the month.

Cheers,
Mike.

Welcome to Boardworld, gmart. cool smile

It’s going to be very difficult finding a lease to finish in March. In fact, I’ve never seen one. Your best and only option would be to consider all places with leases ending at the end of April. You will have options before you leave, for example, sub-leasing your room to someone wanting to upgrade from staff housing perhaps, or even someone just arriving in town. There is always somewhat of a demand for a decent room in Whistler. I think that’s your best option.

Make sure you catch up with the Boardworld crew when you get to Whistler! Just post in this thread. smile

A mate in whistler summed it up pretty well with his facebook status -

“It’s not cocaine falling from the skies, it is in fact snow. But I’m pretty sure it has a similar effect on the population of Whistler.”

Thanks for the info guys. I think you guys are right and I will have to pay through April. Heck who knows I might just end up staying. Is it unheard of to get a DEC 1 - APR 30 lease? Also, if I fail to find something before I get there is my best bet staying in a hostel for a few days and working the local angle? Thanks again dudes and it would be super cool to meet up.
