I haven’t ridden the last three days and tomorrow will probably make four. My groin was really sore again so I decided to give it a decent rest. I’m a bit bummed about it but probably a good call in the long run. Also we’re heading up north to Smithers on Monday and I’ll shred Shames Mountain one or two days. Pretty excited to check it out.

Rode with couple of my buds on bcomb yesterday. One of them is his last day snowboarding and going back to Indo for good. Just cruise around bcomb basically and did some jumps at Terrain Garden. At the end of the day we tried the small pipe and the big pipe.  The big pipe is pretty scary, it was huge. I have a whole new respect for pipe riders, and can’t imagine how high Shaun White gets when he’s airing of the pipe.

Loving the edits guys.. pumped for tomorrow, just hoping the freezing level drops overnight so that the snow isn’t all heavy and wet. Could definitely tell that it dropped through the day today but it really needs to drop all the way to the village to make sure that all this snow isn’t a complete waste as everything that fell today was a bit of a waste as it was super heavy. It was raining when I got home after work a bit over 2 hours ago but now it’s just starting to snow so hopefully it continues to drop.

Planning to head back to the same place we hit last week below DOA on tuesday with some of the same guys and hopefully if the sun comes out it’ll make for some awesome photo opportunities.

ok fine.. but I’ll warn you in advance that there were more faceshots taken than a pornstar today raspberry

Got 1st chair up Fitzsimmons and Garbanzo. Snow was wet and heavy down in the village but was great above the freezing level which was only 200m above the village. Cut a quick line from Garbanzo down to Red with Chantelle where we bumped into Shane and his buddy. Dropped from Red down to roundhouse rolls and dropped to upper whisky jack where we then proceeded to lose sight of Shane pretty much instantly hahahaha We kind of caught him down at Red but then lost him again. If you’ve been riding with Shane you’ll know this is the norm on a powder day.

Cut some more red laps with Chantelle and some other friends Jake and Ash then got a message from Marc saying that Peak was going to be open in around 30 mins so we finished up the lap we were on and then shot down to Peak chair where there would have been maybe 50 people waiting. Within 10mins peak was open and after much deliberation decided it would be best to hit VD trees first up as the visibility wasn’t fantastic so the trees were definitely a safe bet.

We didn’t eve make it halfway into the high entry for VD and ended up unstrapping and bootpacking it in there in thigh deep snow for around 30-50m. Hard work but well worth it as we had the very first lines through there in some of the best powder I’ve seen this season, bottomless powder flying up in all our faces and we found ourselves shaving off speed as we were just flying through the trees at a pretty crazy pace. It was Jake’s first time hitting the high entry to VD and he was blown away - rated it as one of the greatest lines he’s ever hit and it left him with goosebumps afterwards. He had his gopro filming for the lap but given the faceshots we were getting I think it’s safe to say that the footage will be just a whole lot of white. Got to the top of Grand Finale and there would have been maybe 8 tracks down so we bombed that to Highway 86 and then shot to red.

Whilst going up red we spotted this guy cutting one of the best lines I’ve ever seen someone hit. Went down to the left of Left hook then cutting across to the right of Waterfall and dropping what people usually hit as the 3rd drop below Air Jordan. Pretty much perfect - stomped the landing and then cut underneath waterfall which was still yet to be hit. Once they came to a stop we realised that we knew the jacket that the guy was wearing and that it was Shane.

Grabbed this photo from the lineup at peak of Shane’s line.

Hit up Evergaldes and Bansai for our next lap which was brilliant, I really wanted to hit this first but with the visibility being average at first it was safer to leave this for the 2nd lap which was perfectly timed as the clouds broke leaving blue skies and sunshine for this lap - steep and deep the whole way down but the snow was rather unstable with a lot of it sliding off the face as we went down. Even with the snow sliding it was still great with tonnes of faceshots and grins from ear to ear on all of us, kept the speed up on the ride down and managed to stay ahead of the sliding snow which was a pretty amazing feeling. Bumped into a few others after this lap down at Red and Jake was super keen to hit up VD again so we shot in there for another lap still finding plenty of untouched pow and ducked back into the trees at the bottom instead of hitting Grand Finale, whilst chopped up a bit there was still more than enough snow in there to keep everyone stoked.

To finish off the day we dropped into Million Dollar Ridge and shot down to Creekside for a bite to eat at Dusty’s. Given it was after 1pm and I’d been riding hard since first chair at 8:15 I was starving so the pulled pork sandwich that I devoured was just what I was after.

Not sure where I’ll hit tomorrow as it started dumping snow again for a couple of hours this afternoon once the alpine was closed so there should be a few new cm’s out there on top of what was left behind after today so should be another great day out there.

And in closing here’s a random photo I snapped the other day whilst I was at work..
