Went for a bit of a skate at Knox with a few mates today and met K2/Brad down there. Got a few decent 50-50’s on the ledge out of the bank, and had a few cracks at board-sliding the flat bar, was getting on and made it to the end a few times, but didn’t end up sticking the landing (bit bigger than what I’m used to lol). Just a cruisy day, was good.
Nice Koper.
Damn, I wish I lived down there so I could skate with u guys.
Whats your local Andy??
I’m on the Central Coast. So I usually skate at East Gosford or Umina. Or on a rainy day I’ll go to the Slam Factory.
Where about are u man? Where do u skate?
Umm Sydney, so like five dock and summer hill and I sometimes go up the coast and skate copacabana with a mate.
Yeah Copa is a nice park. Really smooth
Yeah but it doesn’t like have much flow. You. Ant calve the bowl haha. And the “rats ” all love themselves and won’t give you a run even though they are terrible skaters haha
Update time:
Skated a fair bit on my 4day weekend. Friday went to Geelong Waterfront Plaza. This place is unreal!!!!! Will post pics tonight when I am home. Amazing plaza skatepark. Ledges for days. Endless lines. Small medium and big stairs with rails and ledges. Banks, banked hips, and wall rides, manny pads and a basketball hoop!!
Had fun skating my new(not brand new) set up. Loving the loose yet responsive trucks and harder wheels. Making manuals so much easier and riding the 45degree bank a breeze.
Then moved onto Lorne skatepark. Pretty average. The main section just wasnt designed by skaters. Suits scooters n bmx though. Has a bowl which isnt too bad. Had fun just carving around the big section. New trucks and wheels made it so much easier to carve hard and high and keep lots of speed and change lines easy.
Went too Appolo Bay skatepark next. Basic pre-fabricated park with quaters of various sizes at each end with fun boxes in the middle. Was basically just going from end to end using the quaters. Working on my 5050s, 5-0s and feebles. Getting them all sliding on various sized quaters.
On the monday skated at Knox for a little bit and met up with Koper. Koper was hitting the bank to flat ledge and getting some nice 5050s I been trying that for a while and only getting it ocassionaly. Got a nice ollie mate!
I wasnt skating well and I’m definately getting a bit over knox. Was having fun doing lines in the small bowl though. Again the loose trucks are making carving a dream and doing frontside turns and carves are so much easier now.
Wasnt feeling it this day, sorry I wasnt more exciting to skate with Chris!! Ended up heading into City Park/Riverside to meet mates, but when I got there realized it was Moomba Festival and the joint was hectic they guys hardly got in any skatin when I was there. We decided to cruise up to skate Melbourne Museum. This is a worldwide known skate spot from so many videos! Shame all the ledges are capped though. Still pleny of flat ground to skate and the gaps are still doable (no way I was trying though). But skating with melbourne shredders had its perks as he went and got a hidden skate box and we set that up and sessioned it.
I landed a new trick and it is quickly becoming my favourite to do.
Had been trying/doing fakie ollie 5050s on ledges. Ended up landing a new trick. Not to sure the correct name. Basically its a fakie ollie to nose grind (board is in switch 5-0 position). Got it 3rd try. Felt so sick. Got a couple and now its becoming my go to trick. Havent got it totally locked in every time, but its almost there.
Last night checked out the new Croydon park. It is completed now and it is awesome. So much fun. Probably the funnest park I have skated. Will take pics next time I’m there. Got a few more fakie ollie nose grinds. Got a nice ollie manual on a pad to larger drop. And nearly got 5050 on the down ledge.
Had heaps of fun carvin up the open bowl and got some nice 5-0 grinds in there.
shit, this posts was huge
Was the Croydon park busy? I’m pretty keen to get down there. Possibly this weekend. Knox is so much effort to skate lol, the rails and ledges are a bit big. I’m pretty keen to skick boardslides on that bank to flat bar though..
Bout the same amount as people at knox. Though didnt have all the bloody bladers. Half bmx half skate. But the design of the park allows it to work evern with lots of people. Not like knox where if one person goes they are in the way of every line. I used to love knox. But it doenst flow. There is a big flat ground area at croydon which is out of the way of everything else. and plenty of different ledge heights. mellow as 3 stair with mellow down rail and long mellow down ledge. You should head there asap. Not sure how busy it is on weekends yet though.
Fakie Nose Slide! That’s mean K2 Good job man.
Wow I better get off my ass and go skate.
Did I type slide? Meant grinde. So like nose manual but grinding. Either way, cheers bro
Yeah I knew what u meant.
Fakie ollie to fakie 5-0 grind right? Looks like a nose grind but going backwards? Pretty sick man
I would even struggle to do that on a snowboard
Yeh thats it.
Yeh, I tell ya, I rekon my skating is gonna have a massive influence on my park riding on a snowboard. Got so much stuff im gonna try now.
Yeah man, if you’re good enough at it, it should all link up.
I was in a comp in Canada with a friend of mine. And in the rail jam section I should have won because I was way more experienced than my buddy but he smoked me and came first and I came second, because it was on stair set with rails, and he (who is a really good skater) just switched to skate mode, turned into a monster and landed about 10 tricks he had never done before.
He said he just pictured himself on a skateboard… I wish my skating was that good that it improved my snowboarding.
Maybe one day
