Battle of the thin and light laptops

Avatar

Hi TJ,

Thanks for the effort. I don’t really have the space for a desktop in my flat. And I take the laptop with me to the snow every second weekend, so yeah need the portability.

Saw the thing about the rebuild but it comes with 12 months warranty so will to risk it.

Hmm no go on the registry cleaner eh? I couldn’t use ccleaner on my laptop. I was having issues with AutoCad trying to reinstall for months (never resolved it was very weird, my dad borrowed the laptop for a couple of months and didn’t even use that version of autocad)

I tried K-Torrent but i couldn’t get it to work. The setup i am currently using is very unstable, but it is a bandaid to get me through. And very thankful i was able to run something.

No effort involved, I made that for a person here and then added speakers and keyboard/mouse lol. If you want, I can ask our suppliers and see if I can get that laptop at a better price for you. They do me some really good deals sometimes. But again, I am in North Sydney but at least I could ride the motorbike over and drop it off for you if you are around Sydney.

Main problem with AutoCAD is how customisable it is… therefore leading to issues when things bug out :(.
I just end up re-installing here at work… there goes an hour of my day lol.

Yea took me a while to get K-torrent working but once I did it was fine.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it is because you are working off the USB that you have issues there… it is generally not the best way to do it hahaha smile

Got CCleaner, works well, I use Spybot and AVG for nasties.  Seems to go ok.

Spybot was good like 5 years ago but really havent kept up with the times in my opinion. Malwarebytes works better smile

And AVG used to be the king of free Antivirus but they use too much processor, pressure you to buy the full version too often and add “This email has been scanned with AVG home free edition. Download AVG home free edition from http://www.avg.com” or some crap like that.

I am only in Rozelle - so not a very exciting motorbike ride for you LOL. And would happily come to you.

But sure ask your supplier.

I am exactly the person you describe earlier - occasional video editing and photoshopper (only just learning!) but i tend to have a prolific amount of crap on my PC and need a lot of memory because I have a lot of shite open and flick really fast through stuff and find a lot of PC can’t keep up with me LOL.

I think I would prefer HP as i said i have about 3 power adapters already… one for home one for mum and dads and one for the bag!

What would you buy? I’m loving the new Macbook Air.

I’d buy a green apple… they are more tasty than the red variety…..

No way man, Red ones are way better!!
I prefer the free ones the govorment gives you, even if there is blocked sites and you cant download programs and stuff and its slow… its still free cheese

Oh and BTW am with you on the AVG… everyone loves it but the last upgrade totally killed my machine and i had to uninstall it. Waiting for the new version I got a virus and that’s what killed it off.

OzGirl - Best my suppliers can do is a 15.6” HP per below:

Pavilion dv6-6146TX Intel Core i7-2630QM 2.0GHz 15.6” HD HPBV LED 1366x768 8GB 640GB 5400 Blu-Ray DVDRW SM DL LS ATI Radeon HD 6770M 2GB 802.11bgn Bluetooth Webcam Beats Audio Win 7 HM Premium 64bit

Price: 1285.00 Inc GST.

I think your deal is a winner, just got to watch out for that dodgy processor replacement.

Meanwhile, if anyone here wants a PC built (Desktop) give me your price limits and I’ll see what I can get you.

That choice of laptops is a no brainer - only one (the MacBook Air) natively boots into the Mac OS, so it’s the ONLY rational choice.

And why is that the only rational choice… Because you are an apple fanboy…

No, as I already clearly explained - because the Mac OS shits all over Microsoft Windows.

I’ve used both Windows and Mac operating systems extensively in a professional capacity, and there’s simply no comparison. I’ve also found that the only people who have a problem with the Mac OS, are people who are either unable or unwilling to use it properly.
