Not Happy Jan!!

I have driven a manual without a clutch… had to push start it and crunch gears by revving… not fun.

Wollongong to Campbelltown. :(

I did make it though… and only 1 stop at a downhill traffic light.

Interesting….. there is no way that was an option for me. Using brute strength I could not get it in gear…. let alone crunch them!

And when it got stuck in first… there was no way I was getting it out.

Really unlucky oz. I must admit I hate dealer second hand cars. When I bought my Astra within a week the aircon wasn’t working. Whole unit needed replacing! Within another week there was a very odd ticking in the engine bay, well time to replace the timing belt already!

Another month down the track, go to drive to dance class and the revs drop and car stalls in the middle of the street. WTF? I get it home with some trouble. Next day, tow it to the dealer I bought it from. They tell me the computer needs replacing and will cost me $2400. Um how about no?! I will take it to a trusted dealer. Off to Holden that afternoon, they do the work for me for $1800 and now have all my future business. They take car of my whole family and their Holdens, I won’t go anywhere else anymore. Even when I had my ford they took care of me!

Me too!! LOL it just kept going and going and going,

Got a lot of shite for that car - but it rocked!

Its funny how many times I got asked by guys on a date what sort of car I drove!

I used to say well if you really care about that answer it is best I don’t see you again! LOL

Funny I was embarrassed that the mechanic was going to judge me when I told him I owned an Impreza… after I told him I may have had a blonde moment with the car… I was quick to tell him it was a base model not a WRX… you could imagine him rolling his eyes deeming me not worthy!

My Astra is now the car I thrash… It is so dirty at the moment but I don’t see the point in washing it just yet with all the highway driving we had been doing!

Hmmm well I hope I have better luck than you Ozgirl, I’m in the process of sorting out my car situation and for finance reasons it’s just easier if I go with a dealer.  Hopefully I have more luck than you with the one I’m getting.  It kinda doesn’t really matter what car you are looking to buy, google the thing and in the first 5 or so responses there is something about issues with them, if you tried to avoid a lemon by going by the internet you would end up with a Mercedes Benz….................................. 12metres long with 56 seats owned by state transit to get where you need to go.

From what you’ve said about the clutch being on the floor it definitely sounds hydraulic - most likely the clutch master cylinder. Could simply be a seal is gone which would be a cheap replacement, worst case you may need to replace/rebuild the whole thing. But even so if you did this now it’s something you shouldn’t ever have to worry about.

As for the whole fuel thing - if it recommends 95/98 only ever put that in. Fuel prices do suck at the moment but thats just the way it is. All of my previous cars have had to be run on 98 which has sucked at times but the gained performance and economy was something that I found balanced out. E10 isn’t actually great for cars either as the ethanol in the mix can actually corrode fuel lines etc after prolonged use.

^thats fair enough… Was out at eastern creek on the weekend and Mad Mike was there from NZ with his quad rotor 26B drift car.. Never heard anything sound as crazy as that before.

I’m missing having a fast/modified/import car at the moment. Had to sell my Toyota Chaser before heading back to Canada last season downer

So mechanic thinks the car is a good sound car.

He is doing a service and adjusting something with the brakes.

He is also adjusting the lever (to do with the clutch) and hoping it doesn’t go wrong again.

Sounds like a good result then, hopefully no more issues in the future grin

Fingers crossed for you oz!!!
