Bindings weights

Avatar

So…. was getting ready for an upcoming snow trip last night and all of a sudden I found my myself with four sets of bindings on the kitchen table. I know the ‘light bindings are better’ argument has runs it’s course, but I thought I’d weigh them just out of interest. Partly because Burton do bang on about using exotic materials in the C60s to keep weight down etc., and partly just because smile.

Wasn’t really surprised with the results:

Burton C60s 11’ - 1007g

Burton CO2s 10’ - 978g

Burton Missions 06’ish - 889g

Burton Scribes (WMNS) 10’ - 780g

All bindings weighed with mounting hardware.

And you guys reckon that I have too much time on my hands!!!!!  hmmm

Only kiddin AJ!!!!! So the cheaper beginner/intermediate binders are heavier hey!!!!! Doesn’t really make that much sense to me!!!!!

Are the EST binders heavier that the traditional mounts????

Does that kind of weight difference make a difference?  I’ve never thought about it, must be a ‘small people’ thing   rolleyes

Maybe it does when you’re scratching to make that last 180 on your 1440’s off the 150ft kicker whilst starring your own DC movie.  For the rest of us mere mortals the difference is probably negligible.

I would say so. The frame on the ESTs are bigger and probably carry more weight. The fact that the C60 ESTs weight more than the C02s prove it so. The C60s should be the lightest binding in the Burton range.

Didnt see this tread the first time around. Interesting! how do these weights compare to what burton advertise them as weighing?

I’m not sure if they actually advertise the weights?????

yeh not sure about Burton but some companies definitely do. I looked it up but it meant nothing much to me because I didnt have a lot to compare to.

AJ Mythbuster!  You just need that stupid hat and moustache.

Yep, Burton don’t advertise the weights and they’re careful not to quantify the weight either. Statements like ‘using lightweight materials…’ etc.

They are making bolder statements with the Diodes however; ‘lightest ever Burton bindings’. I’ll buy a pair this year, but if they let me down like the c60s, I reckon I might move on to another brand.

The c60s have sucked for two reasons. Fit - There was at least a 15mm space widthwise with a medium c60 and a sz9 SLX boot. This meant I had to crank the straps harder for a better fit. Footbeds - both footbeds have disintegrated on me twice now…

Mizu, re:

Sorry mate, you can shove flux bindings up your bum smile
