After all that talking and carry on and almost buying one last year, I got my Lib Tech T Rice C2 today, I have an unhealthy fixation with it at the present point in time, I don’t even want to put bindings or a stomp pad on it, it might spoil it. Tomorrow very early in the morning it goes to Perisher, will report back on just how awesome it is shortly.
Stoked for you, mate! Those graphics look so sick! Have a great time at Perisher!
Sick looking board mate!! buy two more. Hang two on the wall, front and back, and ride the third
looks great. what bindings are you putting on it?
*super jealous*
Love the 2012 graphics better than my 2011 =(
Is that the 157 or 153?
That is niiiiicceee nthn!!!!!
I agree skip, the graphics look way better than mine too!!!!!
I was tempted to do the US thing but I do much prefer the graphics on this one. Will be transfering my Ride EX’s to this board, was thinking about some Cartels but speaking to the guys at Balmoral it seemed like an unecessary expense. Its the 157 and after much measuring and aligning one iwth the other seems to be very similar to my 159 banana, especially the waist width which is sposed to be 3mm wider but doesnt appear to be.
Dude, what a sick board! do you really need a stomp pad on that? You’ll have the spirit of Travis with you…
Why are cartels an unnecessary expense? Don’t know what year your ride binders are, but if they’re like the pair in my basement from 2003 or 2004, cartels would be doing your feet a favour.
ps. better fix those wiggly edges with a hammer
I swear the guys at mervin must be drunk when they make snowboards. They edges are all wiggly cuts, the camber goes the wrong way and then they try to fix it and screw it again, calling it C2.
Man you will be charging with that thing, its fast and super stiff. Binding upgrades aren’t a bad thing they work pretty good if you ask me.
ps. better fix those wiggly edges with a hammer
Is that similar to a de-tune???

If Money was not an option I probably would ha ha!

I thought that was how you did a detune. Oops all those boards I screwed up then.
The bindings I have are 09 Ride EX’s, still in pretty good nick but I might have to replace the toe strap tongue as it was coming loose occasionally over the weekend and hasn’t done that before. No one here really seems to like Ride bindings but myself and another mate have had a couple of pairs and they really seem to do the job, they are strong as well which for a big guy like myself is an advantage. The only other bindings I have were Sims and they were pretty bad.
Anyway enough about bindings and onto the board.
The snow was a mixed bag, mostly groomers, the occasional bit of wetter fresh snow, some hard crust, some icy sections, sugary on some lower slopes in the arvo and one run of awesome fresh tracks in sort of powder.
Firstly, it’s fast and more stiff than the banana, it requires a fair bit more pressure to manual but conversely has more pop. In the hard pack it’s awesome, just grips and inspires confidence even at speed, it’s also responsive but requires a little more effort on turn initiation but feels lots more solid mid carve. I also found it less likely to revert then the banana when I doing backside 1’s which was something I struggled with on the banana.
On the first day when riding switch on flat base at a reasonable pace I found it felt like I was going to catch an edge a bit and i was thinking of detuning some more but by the end of the weekend it wasn’t a drama. As far as landing jumps goes it’s also better than the banana, feels very stable and I found it easier to stick a landing even when I left the lip a little out of shape. Most of my airs were straight ones on the Liechhardt parks line of 22ft, 26ft and 28ft hits to give you an idea of what I’m talking about. I murdered some front 3’s on the next hit after the dogleg in that park, not sure what was going on but I couldn’t spin 3 to save my life on the weekend, 1’s were fine though.
All in all I bought the board looking for it to be better at speed and landings and as a progression upwards from my banana now that I’m more sure of what I want from a board. I have to say that the 2 days I’ve had riding it so far have justified the purchase already. Not that banana wasn’t good for the above and is probably a better pick for a jibber, I find the T Rice better for what I’m looking to do.
@nthn: Yeah, Lib’s board seems a bit longer than other companies. My 153, is the same length as a 155 Ride Machete and maybe about 2 cm longer than my friend’s 153 Rome board.
