An experimental snowboard project and video release
“It didn’t snow in Tahoe for almost the entire month of January. Out of curiosity and boredom Corey Smith decided to attempt to build some handmade snowboards. He was interested in long boarding style in surfing and exploring similar concepts on snow. He wanted to deconstruct contemporary snowboarding down to its simplest element and find beauty in simply turning. “I’ve always wanted to explore and experiment with snowboarding as a physical outlet of creativity,” states Smith. So he ended up building some experimental snowboards. When it finally did snow record amounts in Tahoe he was glad it did. These boards provided a completely unique snowboarding experience and opened up a world of terrain previously inaccessible on traditional snowboards. Some of the boards were incredibly functional and some were purely conceptual. All the boards also serve as one of kind pieces of functional artwork. “
“Building and riding these boards has been one of the most best experiences I’ve had snowboarding.” - Corey Smith

Really? inaccessible on traditional snowboards???
it was interesting that he mounted it pretty centered. Wouldn’t you get a truer longboard feel if the bindings were set back?
Obviously, it would have been better without bindings, then he could walk up and down the board
Yeh don’t know what he mention bout the terrain thing.
I was thinking the same thing about the binding placement and terrain.
Only thing I can think of for the terrain bit is because you float more you can get into areas you dont need as much speed. But really where they show riding them Im sure I could do alright on a normal pow set up.
Not to sure about that, not something that I think I could be bothered doing. I would have preferred if he had made the snowboard equivalent of a McCoy Lazer Zap, mounted the bindings near the tail surf style and even some small wakeboard style fins and tried really surfing the mountain and driving through turns more rather then the traditional tail sliding of a snowboard. Going mach 10 into a big natural berm and laying down a huge drop wallet layback with a 15ft rooster tail would be sick.
Snow looked Good, and they also seemed to be havin fun!!!!! That’s good enough for me!!!!!
I would probably not have called it “Longboarding” though!!!!! Maybe “Bigboarding”????
