Hey guys
i wanna get a new set of bindings for my new board, but dont know what to get???
At first i was gunna set of tec 9’s but heard some bad things about them, and when i was over in canada i was going to get some RIDE contrabands. Everyone was saying i dont know about the ride’s, cause the toe strap can come loose, people were saying go with this or that and no one could give me an answer…...... So what do you guys think would be best???
flux
yer Mizu has them now and loves em….. think that might be the GO!!!!!
I really like the burton malavitas and cartels
Hey Gamblor ive already had burtons and they were great, i forgot to say aswell i want to ride as much park as i can what would be the best bindings for that.
Difference or none?
malavitas are slightly softer than cartels. both are perfect for park. the majority of pros who don’t have a binding sponsor rock cartels. What board do u have? The cartels come in a re:flex version which I have. It’s basically an est version that works on all boards, not just channel boards. The downside to the re:flex tech is the lack of sideways micro adjustments. Your stance width has to fall perfectly on the holes. For me, on burton 3d and rossignol it’s fine. On K2, Capita and Lib it’s off and I have to ride wider than I want.
Yeah I’m a big fan of Burton bindings. I tested the Malvitas a couple of seasons ago and I really loved them, the asymmetrical ankle straps work well and feel great. The Cartels are a solid all-round choice, I owned a set a little while ago; don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone complain about Cartels. Personally I ride in the C02s now as I like a stiffer binding and they are unreal.
Also I have been testing the Flux DS45 bindings here in Whistler. They are an excellent bindings with good features and adjustability. The toe straps (capstrap style) work really well and the ankle strap is super solid. The ratchets work very well, one of the best I’ve seen. The DS45s are a fairly stiff binding, but comfortable and the highbacks are soft enough for tweaking.
Honestly I don’t think you could go wrong with any of the above mentioned bindings. I’d also throw Union into the mix. It really depends on what features you really like and just how stiff/responsive you want them. What bindings have you been using? Do you want your next set to be more responsive? How stiff do you think you want them?
As Gamblor mentioned what board do you have? Also is this going to be a pure park board or still doing a bit of everything?
Reason being, some bindings are going to be perfect for park, but a little to soft for everything else. Whereas some will be great for all mountain but too stiff for park. Some you can get the inbetween, then it really comes down to the performance side.
I haven’t met you, so how tall, weight and boot size?
no bindings.
At the moment im riding a 154 stepchild board (jp walker).
And i weight 70kg and not that tall, the bindings i have now are burton custons and ive had them for ages….. My boots are size ten.
Fatima has cartels and loves them and so do a few of my other mates.
i have been rocking ride contrabands for the last 2 seasons and love them to bits. toe strap thingy works perfect i.e. mine doesnt slip off or anything and i couldnt be happier.
I think with contrabands it just comes down to the boot that you use (different shapes hold better), and if you have adjusted it properly.
cobrasharks are another park option
Flux RK30 not to stiff, not to soft. They have the urethane high back so if your not tall doesn’t kill the calf muscle with nice digging in. If you want a more responsive high back look at the TT30.
Rome 390, has the aluminum heel cup that wraps in under the fore foot for effort less toe to heel response. High back is just stiff enough for freeride and soft enough for park.
Union Contact, this is a softer binding but has minimal board contact. Meaning better board flex and feel. There is also the Contact Pro which is stiffer and has a different high back.
Burton Malavita, stiffer base plate with a comfy high back and the ankle strap to give support for when you are pressing. Some awesome graphics on them too.
All these bindings I have recommended purely because they are good for park and freeride. Meaning that you can still ride park good and have some response on mountain. So go forth and shred.
I have an older pair of cartels which ride fine, but the new ones are soooo much comfier! The fullbed is awesome. Note, I don’t notice a difference between cartel superstraps and malavita asym straps. The burton getagrip toe cap is awesome.
The union straps are awesome too, but some people have trouble with the toe strap sitting on their boots properly.
I don’t like the bolts on my forces. they come undone all the time, and just don’t feel as refined as burtons.
Basically all the bindings mentioned will do the job. Some will feel slightly better (for you) than others, but you won’t know which ones unless you try them all. So, get the pair that stokes you out, that you and your mates are hot on, or just the ones on sale.

There’s also the SF45 which are stiffer again!!!!!
Ya can also SWAP the Highbacks over (left <> right) for a stiffer/softer flex as well as the urethane dampeners that come with ya bindings!!!!!
Yeah they give different dampeners to change the response of the bindings. Worth mentioning they give a couple of extra ladder straps in both toe and ankle sizes in case anything breaks while travelling/riding.
