they are making womens boards to around the 156 mark i think now but dont be ashamed to ride a guys board its fairly common and nothing wrong with that.
is powder all your riding? if so most pow boards are directional shape and flex. if you want an all mountain board then they are more twin shape with directional flex. whats your closest snow shop? i recommend heading down and seeing whats available to get a better idea.

Mr. Water-Bear is right.

A snowboard doesn’t know how tall you are, but it ‘knows’ how much you weigh. Basically, height is irrelevant but you need to be in the right weight range to allow the board to flex and respond adequately. For example, if you’re too light for a board, you won’t be able to get all the right flex and snap out of it for turns.

If you want a twin shaped pow board, I suppose something fully rockered would work (as opposed to getting a directional, tapered board. There are twin shaped boards with directional flex, but lets not get too into that!)

So yeah, base it off your weight and the waist width of the board (so you don’t get toe drag by putting big feet on a little board). I have size 8 feet and can fit on a lot of boards, so I really don’t think you have too much to worry about there.

Trying to think of boards for ya, let me get back to you…

Hey krysiawhitty, welcome to Boardworld!  cool smile

Yeah I agree with the above posts. Get something with full rocker so you can enjoy the pow and ride as much switch as you want. Do you have bindings already?

I would look at something like the Burton Deja Vu - full rocker, twin shape, directional flex, sintered base.

You could also look at something like the Rome Lo-Fi Rocker…

Weight is what you need to look at, don’t worry about your height. Let us know if you have any questions. smile

So after looking at your height again, I realised I know quite a few advanced/intermediate girl shredders that also happen to be 5’9”

One is an ex boardercross racer, and recently took a Lib Tech Skate Banana to Japan and rode it in stupid-deep pow (she also rides a Banana Hammock but that’s a pretty specialised board). I also ride the 52 skateynana and can back it in pow (I’m about 65 kg). They actually make the two sizes under 150cm narrower, and even the 52 or 56 aren’t really that wide.

My other friend is also a strong freerider and rides the Gnu B-Pro, which has Mervin’s “C2” technology. If you like snappy boards and are used to camber this could be a good option. Rocker in the middle so you can keep your tips up and surf the pow, but camber near the ends so you still get lots of snap out of ollies and turns.

Another rides the Burton Lipstick. Rather than full rocker, this is another ‘hybrid’ combo of rocker & camber. I think the Lipstick, Feelgood V-Rocker or Deja Vu would all be decent.

So yeah, you have plenty of options available smile
