Devo that due to the rain (well predicted) this week i dont know when i will be able to work, which is on one side wicked but on the other it sucks. Being a subcontractor and all.
So i was contemplating going to the snow but i dont think my shitbox ute will make it haha
Not exactly ‘devo’ but I’m still sh/tty about my run in with the law yesterday so I guess I will post my story here. I’ll go from the top:
I finally had a free weekend. No work, no uni… no snow either, but what the heck, I thought I’d go down to the snow anyways. After a lazy 8 am departure, we headed off to Perisher in no particular hurry. About 30min out of Cooma I spot a HWP parked in one of the usual spots (snow regulars know where I’m talking about). No stress, I’m not in a hurry and was not speeding. I then commence with my ‘civic duty’ and flashed all oncoming cars for the next couple of kms. Unfortunately, one of those oncoming cars was another HWP (ass pumping (<2m!) some guy in front of him I might add). I didn’t think anything of it, as I always flash, and in Victoria I have flashed oncoming police cars and nothing had ever come of it. About five minutes later I get the ‘good ol’ blue and red lights in the rear vision mirror. It is at this point that I am in the tight tricky section of hwy about 20min out of Cooma. I raise my hand to signal that I have seen him, but continue on about 1 km to a section of road where it is safe to pull over.
Now I’ve been pulled over before and I’m well aware of how important the attitude test is, or more to the point, every time I’ve been pulled over I’ve been doing something wrong and accept what’s coming to me, but before I even got to say anything he starts berating me for not pulling over. I politely and respectfully tell him that that I didn’t think it was safe to do so, and that it was his saftey I was concerned about. He asks for my licence and happens to pick my occupation. Bonus for me, as we are in ‘similar’ lines of work and it usual equates to a free walk (I would never expect it however). No joy. He asks me why I flashed and, again, I give him honest and polite answers. All the time I’m met with a surley attitude.
Off he goes to his car to run his checks and whatever else they do. Meanwhile everyone in my car with a smart phone is frantically googling whether ‘flashing’ is against the law or not. Well…. it turns out it is, and it comes with a $99 fine, no points. I have no don’t doubt the cop knows the law and I accept the fine. I thought that was the end of it, but he then proceeds to give my car a once over, like I’m some P plater who’s just been caught street racing - attitude the whole time. I’m in a new SUV family car which is clearly fit for the road.
I don’t know about you guys, but flashing other cars is ‘just what you do’. It’s how I was brought up and is just the right thing to do between fellow motorists. I’m not concerned about the $99, I just feel that a little piece of Australian died in me yesterday….

Yeah I got berated for not stopping when I got done for speeding a few years back just outside of Bredbo. It was on a S-Bend just after I had overtaken a BMW who was fluctuating between 80-90 in a 100 zone but decided to go 110 when I was on the other side of the road…
I think that’s crap!!
Especially the over taking.. I’ve over taken quite a few cars on the way to and from the snow.. and when I hit the other side of the road.. the only thing on my mind, is getting in front of that car and back on the right side of the road..
I think speeding is stupid and dangerous.. but I have been over taking and looked down once in front to see 140 on my Speedo.. ( I slowed down as soon as I saw this).. but its really easy to do.. (and having said that I still feel its safer to do 10kms or so over and be focusing on the road and your surroundings, than to be driving right on the limit and constantly looking down at the speed on the dash)
I don’t flash people any more for this reason.. (if people flash me I do wave though) one of my friends I’ve grown up with is a cop.. (even though he is in licensing, for clubs etc.) he still tells me stories bout this.. so I’m really weary now,
Also.. some cops can be really arrogant.. like they are superior, I’ve experienced this before.. and I have never been rude or disrespectful to a cop.. working in retail is bad enough, let alone having to do what they do.. I had one jump in front of me to pull me over for a ‘random’ breath test (where he had randomly selected all the p players on the road.. what a coincidence!!).. tell me off because I didn’t have my glasses on (ok, that was my fault but I apologized and put them on right away, and said I had forgotten) then I decided to make me pull over further up and do a drug test.. I’m clean as.. and passed right away.. just smiled at him took my licence back and drove off haha he wasn’t impressed that he couldn’t get me for anything.. (I hate people like that!)

Problem solved! and if im lucky my ute will get stolen whilst it is sitting dormant for a few days near the ume and i will get a payout!

AJ it’s that sort of cop that does no favours to the rest of the police forces image. What a fcuken loser, if his life is that bad perhaps he should remove his service glock from it’s holster, insert the end with 9mm diameter hole in the end into his mouth and see if he can pull the trigger twice before everything goes black. Rather that than try and fcuk over joe public everyday in retribution for his self loathing for his role and position in life.

I went home told my flat mates who were in a lame band and the wrote a punk song about it. ‘The diction squad’ .funny lyrics about lockin people up for poor use of grammar and low vocabulary.
Turned out flatmate bfore was a cadet who they think was trying to poison one of em so they booted him and he left a note with a big knife in it on the couch saying’ I wanna watch Fred die a slow and painfu death’ Faarrkl
So yhey wrote a song about it. Hahah

Nah sorry no. They were a living room band who made a crappy demo in high school then at uni only mucked around.
One of them went on to a few different underground bands but got more involved in movies. He made a movie called los lesbos vampyros. I think thats right either way its a pretty bad movie, just ask him. Haha.

Can’t just torrent a copy of the books? I would… they barely use them in most courses anyway…
That’s not a bad idea! One of them is a software program that’s about $150 on its own. Might try and download that one.
Unfortunately my units are pretty heavily based around the texts this semester and two of the books have online packages linked to them and you need to purchase the text to get the code so i think i’m stuck buying those.
Ouch! Such a scam on uni textbooks. :(
I reckon! Last year I paid about $120 for one of my texts and then my dog (who was going through puppy teething at the time) ate half the back cover and the entire last chapter so I can’t even sell it now that I’m done with it!

after an awesome day on the snow.. (I worked till 7pm last night, got news a friends grandpa passed away - I’ve k own their family since I was 5) I’m getting over the flu aswell..
anyways I had an awesome day, that I needed!!
get back to the ski tube car park.. And fine some one has hit and run my car.. Scratched all down the drivers side rear quarter panel, and smashed ny rear light..
and didn’t even leave a note! I’m so pissed off at this.. How gutless can you be.. I now have to pay to fix it because its not worth the insurance repercussions..
