Just got fired.
First time in 20 years of working. Cant say I like it very much.
That’s thrown a spanner in the going snowboarding every weekend plan for winter.
So that freedom pass is a big ol waste of money at the moment.
Fortunately I hadn’t paid for any accommodation or blown the 2.5k on snowboard gear I had planned next week.

Fired or redundancy? If you got fired, you must have done something pretty bad? If you got redundant from 20 years of working there must have been a pretty decent pay out?
If not, file for unfair dismissal lol.

I work in IT infrastructure with some pretty serious systems management software. SCCM, SCOM, SCVMM if anyone’s familiar.
3 warnings over 3 years in current role all for small mistakes that I made. Senior engineer had been gunning for me since day one.
All you can do is dust yourself off and not make the same mistakes again.
I’m hoping if I can get a new position in the next 4 weeks then I should still be good for weekend trips to the snow.
Truth be told I had been to lazy to look for a new job. Sometimes all you need is a push

I am not in what some would call Stable work. But i still make it down every second weekend or so!!
I have a head cold.
Need homemade chicken soup.
Nose wont stop running and am working two jobs and double shifts until 2:30am Sunday (since last night - worked all day today).
Only getting about 1hr blocks of sleep before needing to sit in hot steamy shower until head clears, then another hr sleep. I’m covered in chest rub.
I guess it’s good to get it over with before the season starts.
Spaz, this might sound odd but works really well..
put the chest rub (I use Vicks.. but doesn’t really matter what type) on the soles of your feet, and put socks on, do this before bed..
When I do it, I sleep the entire night.. and feel better in the morning,

Yeah thats what you do for babies so they don’t get it in their eyes etc.
Was going to put it on my feet but my feet seemed so far away 
Did steam inhalations with chest rub which really gets the sweat going as well as clear the head and get deep into your lungs as well.
When I got to sleep last night at around 11:30 I stayed that way until 6, so yay! but woke up with a headache like a hangover and couldn’t get out of bed until now (8am), coffee and another steam inhalation and I can function - no more runny nose!
Because I’m working tonight till late, I might skip the work I need to do today, rug up and try to sweat it out.
It’s a time game - while my antibodies kill off the infection and my body works it from my system, then I’ll be immune from the cold for winter. Better than getting an injection from a doctor.
