Australian Bowl-riding Championships™ 2014 saw teenage American skateboarding sensation Alex Sorgente (USA) take out first place for the Pro/Am division, closely followed by Pedro Barros (BRA) in second and Cory Juneau (USA) in third with Nathan Beck (AUS) crowned Australian Pro/Am champion for the year.
The Masters division was a massive crowd pleaser with legendary skateboarder Brian Patch (USA) in first, Sean Goff (UK) in second and Lester Kasai (USA) taking third place. Luke Foster (AUS) was crowned Australian Masters Champion.
“I wish we’d had something like this when I was a kid. Gathering the skating clan across generations and skill levels for a single event offers so much for the Australian skateboard scene. Not only is there the opportunity for someone to come out of nowhere and launch themselves onto the international scene, but more importantly there is the chance for them to meet their peers and build new friendships and encourage each other. Newcastle City Council, Destination NSW, Goliath Distribution, Newcastle Skate, Sony and International Skateboarder’s Union have all been incredibly supportive and this is gratefully acknowledged by all the fans and skaters”, said Chad Ford, Director of Frontside Events.
