I’ll be going up in the morning if you wanted to do one really easy run first.

I went up for a few runs this morning. Michelle and I were pretty tired from our NYE shenanigans but it was good to get up the mountain anyway. Caught up with Rhys, Dan, Lu, and some friends from Australia that I haven’t seen in about six years. All up, it was a pretty fun morning. We bounced early as we had stuff to do in the city, and I have a big couple of days coming up with the AST 1 course starting tomorrow morning, which I am super excited about!

Fun day today. Rode with Dan, Andy, Han, and my friend. Did both Whistler and blackcomb. The morning groomers on Whistler midmountain - village is probably the best one yet. Noone on the hill, fast snow, awesome corduroy at places. Did my best eurocarve to date under the garb chair. We also did a full emerald chair run switch, then hit the small park the next run. Head over to Blackcomb to meet up with my friend and we hit up mostly Crystal area.

Gear nerd:
Tried Dan’s Capita Ultrafear. Probably the scariest board I’ve tried. So soft and so loose, I can’t ride that board. I’m amazed that Dan can charge with that board, as they say 90% rider 10% board.

Tried Andy’s Rome Agent rocker on the last run for the day. It’s a 57 but my 54 Lando felt longer. The sidecut is awesome for doing carves, for some reason the waist width felt wide; maybe the bindings are too big.

That was my first experience of a powder day and it was by far the best day yet. So much fun!

Me and my friend got the first gondola up Whistler then did 2 long runs down to Midstation. Went back up and waited for our friend where I bumped into Jeremy, Dan, Laura and Rico very briefly. Then we went on a bit of a tour doing the Pony Trail, Banana Peel, Expressway, and finished on the Crabapple into the village. The day ended with what could only be described as the best sandwich ever from Portobello.

Obviously nothing amazing compared to what everyone else would have got up to but i’m feeling comfortable on blue runs now. I just spent the day practising regular and switch turns amongst other things and I feel like i’m getting somewhere now. Hopefully soon, i’ll be able to join some of you guys on a run.

One of the highlights was my friend going off the expressway and into a ditch. I’m still not sure how he managed it but he couldn’t get out. We had to get him out of his board. It was only about 5ft deep but so funny. It happened right underneath the chairlift.
