PRICE WATCH 2011: Lift Pass Prices in Australia

Avatar

Spaz in on the money in regards to the cost situation, the problem is the high level of infrastructure we have in comparison to our mountains and season length. If you compare aussie resorts to most others we are very over capitalised in terms of lifts etc.
We would be probably better off if we had a few club type hills like are in NZ, just minimum facilities, a couple of well placed lifts etc. The problem is that most resorts are now into real estate sales and want to have a product they can sell for a high profit like a condo on the hill.
I still cant get the bit about paying to drive up the hill though! must be the only place in the world! All these high costs are hurting the rest of the industry here as more people go overseas and thus buy a new board and gear while they are os and not from the local stores

That’s the problem right there!!!!

Because they are in National Parks (Govt owned and Run), the fees, charges and Taxes are the things that make Aussie Resorts the dearest!!!!!

I hope it’s packed (selwyn $20-25 park pass) because it will send a clear message to the big resorts that Australian sliders will go were their dollar goes further.

Solid point. I will definitely be making a few trips to selwyn for this, hopefully mid week to miss the crowds..
