If its true…

both Torah and Thredbo have announced it. It is true.

On IG and FB people are likening it to Buddy Franklin… LOL

Has Torah “Jumped the Shark”?

Meh she still snowboards and skis better than pretty much everyone on these forums. Most guys want to be with her and I suspect most girls wouldn’t mind being her, I’m sure she’s doing just fine.

I don’t begrudge “pro” athletes making financial based decisions. The whole nature of being a pro is to earn money/rewards via your sporting achievements and profile gained from them. They tend to have a limited career path/prospects after “retirement” so take the money while you can IMO.

Hopefully I can have my ass handed to me on the boardercross course sometime during the season!

I agree

But my “jump the shark” reference was I just don’t know what thredbo are offering a Pro Half Pipe rider.

Announce you are retiring and that you are looking to now Freeride (i have actually heard her say in interviews that what she wants to do next!) and it would make a lot more sense!

Maybe time will tell.

I just don’t believe the “torah is coming home” spin

She has been saying Perisher is home for years - actually if she is truly going home then Cross Country Skiing and Cabramurra/Selwyn is home.

Would love to know what resort she first rode a snowboard at.

Hmmm must do some research on that.

If its not for the money it is even worse IMO

These athletes ask for the support from the mountains and then they go and bite the hand that feeds them.

By the look of Thredbo’s Insta, Torah was once affiliated to Thredbo anyways?????

But I agree with Dyldo, who cares????? She’s earned the right to be an ambassador for whatever she wants to be!!!!!

pretty sure she has been saying perisher is home for ‘years’ because that is who she’s been sponsored by for years.
Ditching the perisher half pipe isn’t exactly a big deal either. Even if it is pretty much the only one around, everyone knows its only good for an hour(ish) each day anyway. I’m not sure where the ‘world class’ but comes into it. I bet she’s trained tonnes more half-pipe in NZ than she has in Perisher.

Thredbo would have put a better offer on the table. Thredbo lost Charles Beckinsale which was huge. I guess Thredbo needed to make a move. I’m not reading into it any more than that. Money talks…

Of course this is nothing but my own opinion and speculation.

Does anyone know for a fact that Torah moved for the money?  No
Does anyone know her motives for the move? No

There are plenty of possible reasons she moved, could be for the money, could be that perisher pissed her off, could be that she actually just wants to ride thredbo, in all honesty I dont give a flying fuck. But what ever the reason, im sure she has weighed up the pros and cons and this is the result that made sense to her.

Hahaha great response! Mr V coming through with the truth.

You do realise that Perisher build a private pipe for someone last season for guess what…. money! Torah was training for the olympics too and Perisher didn’t let her use it so don’t be all mind blown that Torah is moving even if its for the money which i know is not the case

From memory:
Torah spent most on snow time at Perisher with her family as a kid. I believe her professional debut was at the Thredbo Sprite Sessions (2000) in which she competed in the big air - I don’t think they had a female half pipe comp but they did have the longest halfpipe in the SoHe - she rode it during the expression session. She was 14 and had been snowboarding 2 years.

Her home is Cooma wink
