Your “must visit” cities/places in Europe

Avatar

I’m with BKR, Sweden was amazing! Great historical gothic place and I had a great time there. We went to Stolkholm, Uppsala and on a student cruise to Latvia (Riga). Great people all over, great things to see and just a fantastic part of my trip. Would have liked to get out more and explore but young me was naive at travelling so we just did what we planned lol.

Some pics to show off.
Uppsala

Stockholm

Student Cruise

Riga - Latvia

Also, Assisi was another cool place if you’re in Rome and want to do a day or overnight trip. Only a few hours on the train.
There is the ruins of an old castle at the top (see bottom photo for the view) which is pretty cool to explore and probably only like 10 euro to get into.

Hey Jez, I heard you need a hand
organising your european vacation…
SO
here are some great places to go!

This place for the signage….

This place topless women that you don’t want to mess with

,this place to fondle some boobs

and this place for some kinky kind of naked pizza!

this place to some wise words get

and this place for some lunatic style enchantment.

This place for the singing cabin crew

and this airline to bounce around as you sing

This place for dessert

and this place to get your cheese platter

This place for bread for breakfast

and here for the bacon to go with it

Here when you are having a Griswalds moment…

Here for a fairy tale

and here to get your medieval moments

This place for the awesome gumboots

and the radical pavements

or some really old pavements

Here for the engineering lesson

and here for your hire car

if you want to do some statue riding try this…

or this!

if you’re looking for a Harry Potter experience, the Nimbus 1000 lives here.

If that’s left you with time on your hands,

just go to Whistler instead!

Agreed with TJ that Assisi is a great spot and well worth visiting. I had zero expectations and it ended up being one of my fave spots in Italy, along with Rome and Pompeii.

Also, ozgirl, I didn’t particularly like Barcelona either and much preferred Madrid (despite my football allegiances going the other way!) The city has a great vibe and is worth a visit but I found the sea of concrete apartments and lack of trees suffocating unless we were on the beach! Look at an aerial photograph of the city and you might get my drift.
Toledo is also a great place, with heaps of history.

My number 1 recommendation though is NORWAY! Unlimited incredible scenery.
There are some great train trips you can do from Oslo and Bergen - details here:

My big recommendation for Accommo is to check out airbnb in all the places you’re going to. Can definitely still find bargains on there.

Some great museums/galleries to visit while in Spain:
. Prado in Madrid
. Picasso museum in Barcelona
. Guggenheim Bilbao

I would say these are not to be missed.

edit: also La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.  Don’t climb the spires if you don’t like heights gulp

sounds like it’s gonna be an awesome trip!

I feel like I know nothing in comparison to the posters so far but a few thoughts.

Siena is really nice, much quieter than florence and the cathedral is a sight more impressive.

A visit to Lords to watch your boys give the poms a bashing (I believe the timing works out)

And this final one I stumbled upon by accident honest,

Amazing gardens near Naples and the Amalfi coast.
