The inaugural Volcom BOWL-A-RAMA™ Getxo (Basque Country) will be added to the global concrete bowl series on Saturday 6th September 2014.
Presented by Volcom and sanctioned by International Skateboarder’s Union (ISU), Volcom BOWL-A-RAMA™ Getxo is a week dedicated to celebrating art, music and true skateboard culture. The newest addition to the internationally recognised series will take place at La Kantera skatepark, Arrigunaga Beach in the Abra Bay of Getxo, Spain.
“We are really happy and proud to be a partner of BOWL-A-RAMA, a household name in the world of bowl skating and simply a premium skateboarding event. Can’t wait to see the action going down!” says Phil Lalemant, Volcom Marketing Director Europe.
Volcom BOWL-A-RAMA™ Getxo (Basque Country) will showcase the world’s best Pro and Master’s bowl skateboarders in Getxo as they compete for a total prize purse of $US30,000.
“Our goal at BOWL-A-RAMA has always been to show the fun side of skateboarding to everyone. Remind the skaters why they skate in the first place and invite the fans to be part of the show. Bowl skating in all its forms is about one of the most enjoyable things you can do on four wheels. As bowls come in all different shapes and sizes, having the opportunity to throw a BOWL-A-RAMA in something as close to the Gonzales Pool as the Algorta bowl ticks another box for us. We expect some new faces at Volcom BOWL-A-RAMA Getxo because of this and some of our regulars to loosen up a little more for the good times. There is going to be no better place to be as a skater and fan than on the beach in Getxo for the week of 6th September. See you there!” Chad Ford, Director of Frontside Events.
The weeklong skateboarding festival will run from September 2, 2014 with the competition taking place on Saturday September 6, featuring the world’s most successful and influential skaters.
The competition will be run by the International Skateboarder’s Union (ISU), the official sanctioning partner of global skateboarding events; “We are very happy to be working with Frontside Events, Volcom and the City of Getxo on this project. La Kantera has a rich history of skateboarding and we are very happy to be able to bring our International field of Skaters to the Basque country.” says Sasha Steinhorst, ISU Director.
Everyone is rolling on from Vans BOWL-A-RAMA™ Bondi’s 10th birthday. The celebrations for BOWL-A-RAMA will continue with parties; for media, industry, sponsors, personnel, fans and the World’s Best Skaters as they fly in from all points of the world to be part of Volcom BOWL-A-RAMA™ Getxo 2014.
BOWL-A-RAMA™ was born on Bondi Beach – Sydney, Australia in 2005 and is the biggest professional concrete series in the World. With Wellington, Bondi, NYC and the addition of Getxo, BOWL-A-RAMA can now call some of the most iconic destinations in the world home.
