Resort Food 2014

Avatar

Anyone remember the Food thread we had a couple of years ago? I can’t find it (yeah prob didn’t look very hard)

I thought I would rehash it as another year another restaurant and/or owner/operators. So I think its good to keep the recommendations current each season as things can change dramatically.

One the weekend I went into the new coffee shop at the top/backside of Nuggets called “Coffee Beats” the kitchen had closed so we didn’t stay but I had a good chat to the guy working there (suspect he is the owner/manager)

A couple of people in there working on laptops so I think they might have free wifi.

But I was impressed that they had gluten free bread - yay! And the guy is lactose intolerant so he has lactose free options as well.

They will be opening at 6.30am in winter and will be having a “beat the queue” system - there is apparently an app to download… so you can order breaky in advance and swing in and pick it up! I have always thought this was something that was lacking in Jindy!

I ended up grabbing lunch and at the cafe next to the Newsagency in the courtyard of Nuggets (at the bottom of the stairs) they also had gluten free bread (how stoked am I!) it was really good!

I think this was the thread but probably a good idea to start a new one anyway.

At the end of last season Mr.h0z another friend and I were feeling adventurous, and tried the Thai behind nuggets (across the road) and it was amazing!!  We got chicken pad Thai, a dish called mee grob (which was crunchy noodles with chicken and like a sweet and sour sauce,). And satay skewers, and we definitely rate it..  We are going back there this season, especially since Mr.h0z hasn’t been able to find the mee grob any where in Sydney, (he was so devo after we both Googled as many Thai restaurants menus as we could find)  might get it when we are down in a couple of weeks.. Saves us cooking and then having to clean the kitchen after,

But on the “Favourite Noodle” note: For those still wish to try it - the Coles arcade is now The Reject Shop.

Had 8 of us all get a meal upstairs at The General in Hotham and not 1 bad meal. I can’t even remember what I had but it was delicious!

The only thing i have ever ingested at the General is alcohol. Lots of alcohol…

Hey Brad, remember that time you, Ricko, Jimbob and myself had that room at the Bluebird and we had like…5 bottles of moonshine? And i convinced the bouncer we worked for the mountain so he would let us in after cut off time LOL

Yeah you’d possibly be a bit dubious the first time you walked into the Gennie, but they do seem to have the food nailed.
