NOW Bindings - Re-Review

Avatar

Hey guys,
I like to stay up on the latest equipment since people always ask me about it all. And just because I want the best for me too.
I find people are always biased when they have just bought something. People often buy a product and then say how great it is because they want it to be (cause they just spent a lot of money). So I find the best review is when people buy the same product again.

SO - NOW Bindings. Who has them and who has bought a second set?

I take it you read my Now IPO review?

I bought my current IPO bindings only after I extensively tested one of the prototypes in Whistler. I will be buying another set this season for sure. Probably going to try the Selects this time. I’ve been a Burton bindings man for many years but I have finally found a product I prefer. I’ll be riding Now for the foreseeable future.

Have you tried them yet, Andy?

I have 2 set of NOW IPOs. One white one from last year, and one black one from this year. I love the IPO, I like the Drive, I don’t like the Selects.

What dont you like about the Selects?

I demoed the 2015 Selects. I don’t like their new hyperfuse straps.

Right well I guess that’s my answer. Sounds like people like (and continue to like) them.

I actually didn’t read your review Jez but I’ll search it up now and give it a read.
And no, I haven’t tested them yet. I can never seem to be around for a NOW demo day. That’s why I’m asking because I’ve been stung by just buying some wacky equipment to try it… and then really regret it.

Well if I don’t get to demo them, i might just go ahead and get some. If my next board isn’t a Burton that is.
Cheers guys

Hahaha okay wait. I definitely did read your review a few days ago.

Then forgot about it. It rattled around in my head for a while. And then suddenly I felt like trying NOW Bindings lol.

Subliminal Messaging.  oh oh  Of sorts.

@Andy: I’ve used mine with my Fish. The NOWs are compatible with Burton board if you still want to get Burton.

Mr.h0z just brought the IPOs in black, -like you he has always been a Burton man, (had the missions, upgraded to the prophecys then upgraded again to the genesis) after reading online about how the now bindings work, he couldn’t resist, and brought them earlier this week! (they must be decent - from the reviews and the tech they have) because he is a tech/gear nerd:lol:  and he wont buy something with out researching it like crazy first..

Interesting, I really thought NOW’s would turn out to be an idea that came and went, but I’m yet to hear a bad word about them.

I’m still really hoping to demo them first though, because I have pretty varied and specific needs for my bindings. I have so many questions about them that I think I would need to just feel to understand.

Like how do they feel to flat base on?
Do you lean more because the bindings rock?

Does anyone know of any demo days in Perisher or Thredbo happening this season?

@Andy: They flat base fine. U don’t really feel the rocking thing going on unless u’re going from edge to edge. I feel like it’s smoother and easier to get on edge and putting more pressure once you got on that edge.

They are great to flat base on. They really don’t move much at all. They are actually very stable like normal bindings, and they move in a very subtle way—and only when needed. The only thing you might feel when bombing is a bit of shock absorption when riding over bumps. They really are stable and smooth, and no, I really don’t find you lean any more because of them. If anything, you probably lean slightly less because you can make up that extra angulation with your lower joints as the bindings work and lean with you.

So no one has found any negatives to these bindings at all??

Make sure you test them for fit with your boot, mine are great and i will be riding them this season, but the inside “kingpin” digs into my boot. ill let you know if i find a solution

Hey, Andy Mr.h0z said you can take his for a test run when we are down at perisher if you like, he has the mediums, so if your boot fits, let us know! (just a heads up, he will most likely have them on his box scratcher park board (which is a 147)  but I’m sure you can swap them to your board or something, of its too small for you)

Andy I’ve also got a set of last years now IPO in medium.  Happy for you to give them a whirl anytime if they fit.  And yes love them smile
