Hi guys, looking for some advice.
My sister is getting married in Vegas next March so I thought i’d head over a week early and hit up some US snow as I have never been before.
Will fly into LA and was thinking of hitting up Mammoth, then maybe going up to Tahoe or possibly even Salt Lake City before making my way to Vegas. Bear Mountain is close to LA too I think but I’ve read that Mammoth might be more reliable and probably the further north I go would be better?? (Northstar etc)
Just wondering if anyone has experience in riding in Mid to Late march at any of the US resorts and what would be my best bet?
Don’t mind if its not super pow conditions as long as there are runs and lifts open I am happy!
What date is your sisters wedding? I’m going to be in mammoth for all of march
cool
Not 100% locked in yet but its looking to be sometime between 19th-22nd so if that’s the case I will probably aim to fly in the week before depending on flights and what I can get off work. I think Mammoth will be the way to go cause I may only get a couple of days there in the end and its a pretty big resort yeah?
ahh I only just saw your thread about your trip Dylan. Dunno how I missed it.
Sounds like a good plan
Yea I looked at doing some time at bear but there is ‘bearly’ any snow, besides what they push around for some events.
Mammoth has one of the longest seasons, usually open till June & still has plenty of terrain and good parks. I asked some of the fyve guys I met in Japan, that are Tahoe locals, where I should go and they said northstar & boreal are good but mammoth has it over them at that time, they are even doing it for the spring
Have you considered Jackson Hole? Not quite as close as Utah or the Cali resorts to Vegas, but I think it’s worth considering. Colorado could be another bet, as the altitude is higher and the snow might be more reliable that time of year. I don’t think you could go wrong with Mammoth though. They usually get a lot of snow.

Most Tahoe resorts are open into March/April. They are getting killer dumps at the moment.
The Colorado resorts are open through April as well.
Honestly don’t set your heart on anything right now. I think you are better off buying one of the
Epic Passes and then winging it when you get off the plane!
March is low season you will get bargain last minute accom deals possibly even a good accom/ flight package (from LA) off expedia the day before.

Yeah I read about it and had a look on the map but I think it’s a little too.
I think if I get more time I may go up to Tahoe but I think for the time, money and itinerary I will most likely have, a couple of days in Mammoth will have to do.

I’m not much for winging it, especially if i only have a few days to a week - it wouldn’t do my OCD well at all!
I like to have it all planned out to the day, also staying in Mammoth for the whole time will mean i can relax and board as much as possible and not waste boarding time travelling!
I think you miss understood.
I am not suggesting you have to move around. I am just suggesting waiting to lock in you trip until closer to the date (wait as long as possible for your comfort zone)
But the epic pass is super cheap (cheaper than a 5 day pass) and gives you the option to move around if your time allows (which your not even 100% sure about today)
Waiting until just 2 or 1 week before (so before you leave aus) you can still get a good deal at your resort choice.
I am a MASSIVE planner but have found with fickle mother nature that sometimes planning can lead to disapointment.
oh ok I get ya now. Thanks for the link, will check it out!
