I tore a hole in my High Roller, but it was my own fault plus I’m positive that it can be done to any board bag as they’re made out of similar materials!!!!!
I have a thread here somewhere where I patched it up for about $10 or so, with some Sikaflex and an off cut of similar material from a local Marine Trimmer!!!!!
Apart from that, it has no defects whatsoever!!!!! And it can hold a shitload of gear!!!!! * Some airlines have a 30kg baggage limit, along with some that have a Dimensional Size Limit, so your purchase decision may hinge on what Airline you normally use?????
It spends hours of it’s life on roof racks when travelin down to the Aus slopes in all weather conditions, and has had a few stints in the cargo hulls of big jet planes over the 8 years that I’ve owned it, and it has never let me down!!!!!
Here’s my repair thread!!!!!
Note that how I did it, was I dragged it sideways up and outside staircase that had broken/missing tiles on it that were sharp as!!!!!
Got an ear bashin off the missus as she watched me do it!!!!!
you bag could be made out of kevlar and woven unicorn ball hair and the baggage handling F-Wits will find a way to put a hole in it.
My brand new 3CS bag came out onto the baggage carousel with a broken zipper, muddy and with 2 big boot foot prints on it, not impressed!!!
I have a burton wheelie gig bag, and as much as I usualy dont like burton stuff I love my bag. it is solid as! I have dragged it over all sorts of stuff, and it has been rough housed by baggage handlers from all corners.
I got it in 2010 and have done 2 decent trips per year since then and it doesn’t even have so much as a scratch on it! im surprised myself actually!
Its no light weight, but I usually pack it so full of gear it can hardly close before I reach the max weight allowance.
would recommend it to anyone going overseas. local travel probably doesn’t need something as rugged.
edit: I think It may have lifetime warranty too?
Same^^^
I can’t fault the Torp-7 deluxe wheelie (for the price) at $80.
Well padded, plenty of room, water-proofing and the wheels roll suitably when you pull it.
I settled for this. it’s a 156 wheelie board case.
it’s not as thick as pictures make you to believe. there’s not much padding there and it does seem quite small than what I initially expected.
definitely agree on the earlier post about how these bags can have as thick of a padding as possible but it’s still up to the mercy of the baggage handlers to determine if it’ll arrive in one piece or not.
Burton makes great board bags. The Wheelie Case is one of the best. I’ve had the Wheelie Locker for years now, travelled the world with it, often carrying 32kg and multiple boards. It’s stood up to the test of time even after years of abuse. This one will serve you well.
Nice one, Resident!!!!!
if you’ve got all your outerwear packing in and around your gear then that should provide any extra padding you might need/want!
Thanks guys.

How often do you have to deal with excess baggage charges?
I just weighed my bag with the board, boots, bindings in it and it was already 12 kgs. The limit on the airline Im familiar with is 20 kgs for sports goods. Looks like I’m gonna have to carry my clothes via carry on.
thats still room for 8kg of outerwear. thats plenty.
Thanks guys.

These days they’ve become a lot stricter in regards to charging for overweight bags. The actual legal limit is 32kg, which I’ve pushed my baggage to a few times. I believe you can still carry 32kg per bag legally, however you will be faced with overweight charges (each airline varies). I’ve been pretty lucky and I think I only paid $50 once.
Just thought I’d mention I have the Burton Wheelie Board Case also,
I just did a trip to Niseko and around Japan and it held up perfect.
Had all my gear in there, boots etc etc plus another travel bag and
I think I weighed 27kg give or take for both bags together and
had no problems…
